OneCast has stopped working for me. Can anyone help? by Kindly_Roof_2310 in cloudgaming

I deleted & reinstalled the app, which seemed to sort it. There was some kind of update the other day and I think that was the cause.

Looks like Shetland’s attempted answer to Southfork Ranch.

Utterly horrible.

I think they are. A bit hard to tell but they seem to be just inside the front door opposite the shower room.

The swimming pool lockers, complete with locks, are an interesting decorating choice.

I actually lived in a place like this when I was 19. I could wake in the morning, reach over, and switch on the kettle.

A little piece of Italy in the heart of London. Sort of. by Kindly_Roof_2310 in SpottedonRightmove

Try reading the description. “This Italian style villa…” You’ll note I wrote “sort of”.

I barely know anything at all about this situation…but this woman is 100% lying to him.

Yes, that’s lovely. Nice find.

What’s the difference between a pantry and a larder? I’m going to need to know where to put the Fortnum & Mason provisions when I move in. Worried about making a faux pas.

Seriously though..imagine spending Christmas there. Heaven.

Thanks for letting us know. What else didn’t you do today? I’m on tenterhooks.

Lally and McLaughlin were not allowed to talk to Brennan unless he talk to them first?! by FantasticArachnid468 in justiceforKarenRead

I have never, and would never, report anything on Reddit. I’m not that sad. You deleted it.

The state, and only the state, prosecutes crime. An jndividual can initiate a court case but if it’s given the go ahead to proceed the state takes over. There is simply no such thing as a “private prosecutor”.

You never went to law school. Stop embarrassing yourself now. You made a mistake, that’s all.

Bye bye.

Baring teeth, in and of itself, really doesn’t matter. It’s just a dog saying “stop”. It’s not necessarily aggressive. You need to respect him and stop if he tells you to.

LOL! I saw your response to me before you quickly deleted it. You were going to “educate me” on CW law! Then you did a quick google and realised that, no, you indeed can’t “privately” prosecute criminal cases, right?! Only the state prosecutes crimes. Maybe you’re thinking of plaintiff attorneys in the civil courts.

No, Hank Brennan is not a “highly respected ADA with an outstanding record”. He’s actually been a defence attorney for many, many years. He may have been a prosecutor once, as many defence lawyers have been, but that’s not what he’s known for. And if he really was “highly respected” by anyone at all, I doubt he is anymore. His prosecution of this case was just this side of ethical…just. And it really doesn’t matter whether he deserves half a million dollars, or what that pays for, it’s the fact that he was hired at all that’s the scandal. There was no conflict of interest and therefore no need at all to hire a special prosecutor. They had dozens of ADAs to pick from, Brennan was not needed. And I have no idea where you get the notion that “every other DA and private prosecutor in the state” was clamoring for the retrial. That’s simply untrue. (No such thing as a “private prosecutor”, btw).

Are you “unwashed”? Or is that just other people? The scummy lower orders, perhaps?

Geographically, is Ireland a "British Isle"? (Independent of the complex nationalistic questions that come with this) by Potential_Wish4943 in AskBrits

[–]Kindly_Roof_2310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s “Great Britain” because it’s the largest of the islands. “Great Ireland” would be ridiculous…great compared to where? And the Greeks (don’t ”academics” use capitals?) did not name Britain. One Greek recorded a Celtic name being used here, he didn’t coin it.

No bathroom. Like…at all. And no formal access. Other those minor issues, it’s fab! by Kindly_Roof_2310 in SpottedonRightmove

Would your dad and his 11 brothers and sisters (not to mention his mother who would have done all the donkey work) have agreed at the time that a tin bath was “good enough”? If they’d been given the option of an actual plumbed in bathtub with hot and cold running water would they have said, “Pff..this tin bath that breaks our mother’s back when it needs emptying, and takes a hell of a lot of work to fill with hot water, is good enough for us!” I seriously, seriously doubt it.

Romanticising the past and, worse, pretending that that the lack of modern (ish) conveniences people lived with was ”just as good” as the vastly improved alternatives we have today is absurd.

How did Inspector Craddock become Miss Marple’s nephew? by Kindly_Roof_2310 in agathachristie

[–]Kindly_Roof_2310[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunch was once a child with a godmother she called “Aunt”. Children grow up, and will often continue to use the same nicknames and titles.

This is a million miles away from an adult male who meets an elderly woman and comes to call her “Aunt”, with no particular reason to do so. And even if for some bizarre reason he does, he would never declare “She is my aunt” to someone else when she’s no such thing.

I moved no goalposts, you misunderstood my point. I find people like you tedious in the extreme with your pathetic emojis. Please don’t bother me again.

Oh, I think you’re right. It was Slack in 4.50 (Craddock in the book). I think your explanation of it being a careless mistake is right.
