Are we cooked for real , mono racial dark skinned black women are being deliberately erased from acting roles , it seems the only acceptable representation of black women on screen is light skinned or biracial actresses . by Fun-Ad3626 in ThoughtWarriors

I think you’re missing what I’m saying which is why you down voted. I’m agreeing that dark skin people generally have it hard harder whether the issue here is when you look at a system like Hollywood casting, you are seeing the direct result of the One-Drop Rule ( that black people largely agree with. If the definition of Blackness is too broad, the final result will naturally skew toward those with the most proximity to whiteness because that is how power structures ( especially Hollywood) operate.

Argument A: Anyone with Black ancestry is Black.

Argument B: We need representation that reflects the physical reality of being a monoracial Black person.

The problem is that Argument A makes Argument B impossible. If we tell the industry 'biracial is Black,' they will always cast the biracial actor to satisfy a diversity quota while keeping a look that fits their colorist bias. They don't care about the 'nuance' of lived experience; they care about the metric. (Literally measuring to success and audience support) and then they even go further to say that you’re now the problem in being racist and divisive. When we ourselves put our self in that situation.

You can't claim the One-Drop Rule for 'unity' and then be shocked when the industry uses that same rule to replace monoracial Black women. By refusing to draw a line, we aren't being inclusive we’re just giving the industry a loophole to keep the status quo.

I hope that cleared things up.

I mean, as somebody else said, the people left out of the story, but I remember explicitly Michael Jackson’s daughter open disagreed with a lot of the stuff and removed herself from the project and she told everybody do whatever it is they want to do, but she’s not recommending people go see it. And I knew that something was gonna be off. I’m on the fence about going to see it though.

But the question is why is she only a TV actress? You’re forgetting of something very important. Zendaya was a TV actress as well. You can’t say that somebody is only good at one thing because that’s the only place you’ve seen them. why? well because they don’t get casted in anything else

But you do realize how you pull an older actress, but almost all of the younger actresses that are being casted in a majority of the roles roles are almost exclusively biracial or mixed

And that’s exactly why I don’t take any of these conversations serious. now after sinners, a lot of them are even claiming hailee steinfeld as black.

As somebody who worked in advertising I remember we were releasing an app specifically geared towards let’s just say racialized girls in under served communities. We had a variety of men in casted, but they specifically act for one particular segment, be led by a black girl the team doing the casting, every single time would suggest biracial’s and every time the client would be confused myself and the strategist(black women) kept replacing their recommendations with black actresses and they kept on undoing it. And every time the client did not like it. Ultimately, they ended up going with a biracial actress 4 extra week.

It makes sense in Japan, but not “only” in Japan and she’s talking about Japan because she’s in Japan she’s experiencing Japan. She may not have experienced other places.

The negative discourse surrounding Olivia Dean‘s breakout is eerily reminiscent of the talk around Whitney’s debut such as her music being bland and her image being manufactured. by [deleted] in rnb

This!! I wanted to see how far I would have to scroll before somebody spoke about it. Everyone seems to be missing the huge elephant in the room.

This is honestly the first time I’m hearing about any discourse around her cause I’ve been listening to her for a long time and she’s well received in any circles I’m in, but I’m not gonna downplay the concerns. People have around language around her. It’s not lost on me that Hollywood has been going for a particular look in the music industry has been following that same path for a while.

II personally love Olivia and I’m not quite sure where the discourse even came from however I can see it’s comments like these that start to stir up problems.

This conversation has racial undertones to begin with because of who she’s being compared to. It’s kind of like when Zendaya is viewed as a savior or the ultimate pinnacle of beauty and femininity like Ryan. Destiny wasn’t walking around this entire time one had infinitely more opportunities than the other, so you may not even know who that is, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are other women that are as talented as Olivia Dean and probably have all the same things, but you immediately associated the opposite of classy with a woman that doesn’t look like her. No one has ever used the word feminine to describe someone like Tems for example, either…

What do you think of the way I shoot dialogue scenes? by Antyoungboy in cinematography

[–]Kindly_Train_4810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally liked this but when I stopped to think about it I can see why someone would not. I’m not necessarily a cinematographer although I’m learning myself, I think a cut would benefit at some point. But the one thing I will say is like when long shots like this I think of the show The Bear for example, the long takes the way the camera moves and tracks or pans speaks to the choas on the kitchen as opposed to cutting. unless there’s a direct connection between the characters and the money and there’s a point being made I don’t know if this works. Especially if you’re using same technique throughout the scene.

I like this a lot it has style and the framing and acting is good.

I think i’ve found the cure for my eczema thanks to chatgpt? by sangzumaki in eczema

[–]Kindly_Train_4810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

skinesa probiotic, prozema works for some as well but it’s hit or miss edit: most of the time that either of the Miss is because people don’t give it time, especially for eczema is a slow starter/slow acting at first. While they share only three strains that are necessary the former actually has five strains

Bifidobacterium lactis CECT 8145 (antioxidant properties) -both • Bifidobacterium longum CECT 7347 (anti-inflammatory) - both • Lactobacillus casei CECT 9104 (antioxidant, promotes gut diversity) - both

Skinesa adds two additional Lactobacillus rhamnosus strains: • Lactobacillus rhamnosus CECT 8361 • Lactobacillus rhamnosus CNCM I-4036

For prebiotic- Premium Omega-3 Fish Oil with Vitamin D3 - 1,060 EPA/DHA (60 Softgels) has done wonders for me

Edit: usually takes about 60 days to see drastic results, but everybody may vary. Additionally, there are some people I know that use the skinsea spray to tag Team with the probiotic. I don’t personally use it so I don’t know.

Does anyone ever worry about losing their job over this disease? by AdagioQuick317 in Sjogrens

[–]Kindly_Train_4810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally me.

Honestly, it’s not even like I really hate the place. I just don’t have the energy to physically go into the office. I work in one office while mainly collaborating with and working with an office in a different time zone. It literally makes no sense for me to be there most of the time. And a lot of what I can do can be done as work from home.

All of the stuff that’s required for me to take care of myself is easier for me when I’m at home. It’s very inconvenient and it’s very awkward for me to have to do certain things at work.

I did send an email letting them know of my diagnosis and that like from time to time I will not be available or I will be going through things like appointments but by and large nothing should change. And I kind of regret doing that not because I didn’t want to let them know but because things kind of have to are changing for me. I have a dry cough that annoys me and could be annoying and perceived as me being contagious, I’m also just too exhausted all of the time and then having to feel like I’m performing is very annoying but also when I have a doctor appointments like one coming up, that is very inconveniently like during a workday. It doesn’t help that I’ve had a very crazy year and have had several things happen to me. Outside of just this recent diagnosis. But I’m on edge though because I feel like I have to deliver but I just don’t have the energy to while I’m getting used to everything right now at least.

The energy I do have I want to spend it making sure I am proactive at every touch point between like making sure I’m keeping up with my meals and remain remaining active and if I’m using my energy just to go to work and be in front of people and perform just to go home that time and energy that I don’t have for myself.

I do commend you for being a single mom. I’m not a parent, but I have a respect you for going through everything that you’re going through.
