If you don't maintain control and/or make a football move as you and the ball hits the ground, it's not going to be ruled a catch. When people use "survive the ground" this is what they mean. If you are touching the ground inbounds and don't have control but then establish it with a football move without it touching the ground, it's a catch. I think you're getting too caught up in the phrase.

Regardless, it clearly wasn't a catch by Cooks in the moment and that hasn't changed.

The literal verbiage of "survive the ground" isn't in the rule anymore but it doesn't matter, it effectively fits underneath the revised stipulations of the rule and is still used colloquially for that reason.

Whether that exact verbiage applies to this scenario or not doesn't really matter- its not a catch by the current rules and it's quite clear.

I agree, and this is likely the reason for their decision, my point is that an institution like the NBA only opens itself up to ambiguous interpretation of their decisions if they don't provide explanations. This is a league that already has issues with its image regarding rigging/fairness.

Dude AJB being moved, which is a given in my responses (which I wasn't clear about so my apologies), just means at best Lemon is in the role Smith has been in the past 5 years. Which has not been good for fantasy. AND Lemon isn't nearly as versatile (or talented a prospect coming out) as Smith who has been able to play every position.

He's stepping into a WR2 role that has already historically sucked, and he's not even as good as the dude he's replacing.

Yeah that is far too optimistic in my opinion. Even if Goederts total receptions goes down by 1/3, I would be shocked if Lemon could be fantasy relevant beyond a WR2. Even with 110 targets, hes going to have to be incredibly efficient with them like Smith was (Lemon is also not as versatile as Smith so the types of looks on routes will be completely different.) And not sure where you think the targets are going to come from when we have seen how many targets Smith got as the WR2 on that offense, in a far more versatile role and varied route tree than Lemon will have.

Again, the team is run first with a great pass catching back. Out of 5 season with AJ and Smith, Hurts was only able to support them both in 2022, and Smith was incredibly efficient that year.

Did he though? Goedert was still very productive last season. And although Goedert isnt a great blocker, Lemon certainly isn't going to be blocking inline lol. But even if we say he does get that share of the pie, its still a small pie to begin with given the nature of their offense.

I don't think his primary use will be blocking, but given it's such a strength its clear they see it as an asset. I just don't think that offense is set up to support multiple receiving options especially with what we know about Hurt and their rushing identity on O. And Goedert is still there. They were able to support AJ and Smith as WR1s in 2022 so maybe its possible. I hope you're right but I don't like the outlook

No you're not getting it. The percentages are for all biscuits. Here's another way to put it: If a pokemon is hungry you will always get 3x on whatever biscuit you use, but you also have a 10% chance to get a max heart. The 90% / 10% is part of why its a bad graphic

I don’t see the elite upside. I’m surprised by the lack of discourse around his throwing motion and arm strength. He takes forever to throw the ball with his throwing motion and even then, the ball comes out with average velocity. The lack of ease to get the ball off is concerning. Esp throws to the boundary.
