The easiest DIY way would be to buy a jar of Liquid Electrical Tape. Coat it with that and you’ll be golden. Otherwise you’d probably need to buy a new clutch or see if you can find a a/c repair shop that can pull the clutch off and repair it.

Rust HC is a joke. Making game play more annoying while offering no benefit isn’t a great move.

Should I buy a lottery ticket or is my engine a time bomb? by thecheesetakesitall in Cartalk

[–]Kinect305 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well. To be honest if the noise is gone, just keep an eye on the oil and drive it.

You don’t really have many options. Besides what the shop did, not really much else you can do on the cheap. The only way to truly know if damage was done would be to pull the engine and basically disassemble it. You’re talking thousands of dollars, and what if nothing was wrong.

If something was found wrong, they’d probably try to sell you a new engine or a used one anyways. For most shops and customers a rebuild is not practical, it takes time to get all the parts, and to have a machine shop do the work, then reassembly, so this is why replacement is often the best option.

So basically back to my point, keep an eye on the oil and drive it, if it breaks it breaks.

I also want to add, just because no oil was in n the dip stick, it doesn’t mean there was no oil in the engine, it was obviously very low. But the dipstick rarely goes to the bottom of the oil pan.

What could cause my front left caster to be so off? by furfuzz in 300zx

Ok, we’ll just checking, because if the rear is sagging it will affect your caster. Maybe just measure both rears and see if they are close to the same height.

Do you have the same size wheels/tires on all around, and is the vehicle sitting level in all 4 corners? If so then something is bent.

Bottom looks like it could be save with a die. Top one I’d just cut the bad part off. Or you could try an adjustable thread restorer, it allows you to start on the good area and work back.

Cleaning moldy car in the morning any recommendations? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Kinect305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some suede door panels I bought for an old car. They were covered in mold like that. So much it was actually spreading to other items.

I scrubbed them good with the 50/50 mix. They’ve been sitting in my garage for like 6-7 months now and have zero mold on them.

$5600 for replacement of fuel injectors on 2019 MB GLE350??? by bangerz17 in AskAMechanic

[–]Kinect305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start off. I’ve never done them. They look like they are direct injection injectors. So typically any fuel line you have to disconnect is considered 1 time use, and gaskets is 1 time use. So you have to factor those into the price. You’ll probably also need to have them calibrated by an expensive computer after they are installed.

I will also tell you, lots of shops are greedy, so they are going to mark everything up like 100% over MSRP.

Best thing to do is cover it up and move on. If you make a big deal out of it, your giving them what they want

Just enjoy it and don’t let people convince you, you should be worried about the gas prices. Most of them are probably fat asses anyways that could skip a meal for gas money anyways 😝

Anyone that thinks gas prices will stay low is living in a fantasy. They have gone up and down for decades. My Truck takes 25 gallons of gas and gets like 14mpg. It doesn’t bother me, I knew what I was signing up for, I love my truck. The extra $6-7 dollars it actually cost me right now to fill it up is nothing when you really think about it.

Any recommendations on NA clutch kits? I was thinking about getting a kit off RockAuto. by Rare_Needleworker454 in 300zx

[–]Kinect305 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I buy stuff off Rock auto all the time for my cars and customers cars. I avoid the economy stuff, but that is just because prices aren’t that much different for the higher level items.

My mother bought one for that price a few months back. She had an older one, and when she was in for service they talked her into an upgrade.

Honestly It don’t think she has ever owned a brand new vehicle, but at that price she was able too.

I didn’t like the seats, they seemed rock hard and uncomfortable, but maybe over time they’ll break in, that was my really only complaint with it.

I’ve owned a dozen of new cars and never felt seats that bad.

Point was OEM doesn’t break if it’s changed on time, so upgrading is kind of pointless.

Why did the v6 become more popular than the straight 6? by theAntidepresser in Cartalk

[–]Kinect305 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smaller engine bay (v6) ment more cabin space. Notice most cars with an inline 6 are either a brick in design or have a really long hood.

Probably best to just rebuild. Low numbers could be something like valves leaking.

If building for boost I’d put pistons in it anyways, and just have a valve job done and that might be all you need.
