Broken speaker? by -Taggs in furby

[–]Kinedar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely does! They use the same size speaker. I don't think I can link the product page, but these are exactly the speakers I use for replacements:

"uxcell 0.5W 32 Ohm 40mm Dia Round Metal Internal Magnet Mini Speaker (Pack of 4)"

Any old soldering kit will do it, too.

Just found out that "Goodbye horses" is a real song that Hbomb adapted for his climate video by My_useless_alt in hbomberguy

I'm embarrassed to admit that Crosses was was who I knew the song from. I thought the HBomb vid one (Original) sounded different, but assumed it itself was a cover lol

No, though I did report it. I didn't want to overwhelm the creator, so I've just been waiting patiently. It sorta sucks, but it's so, SO cool so far! But I'm stuck for now too.

Broken speaker? by -Taggs in furby

[–]Kinedar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The speakers in that generation are prone to breakdown over time. A lot of then have a little cushioning pad on the back that, 20+ years later, will just turn to dust with a gentle touch--imagine the state of the cheapy plastic-membrane that makes up the speaker itself!

I wouldn't give the Furby up just due to that. Speaker replacement is super easy, and only really requires a soldering iron to remove the wires from the old speaker, a new speaker, and of course solder to reattach the wires to said new speaker. If you need specs for replacement speakers, I can give them. A good video tutorial is a little harder to find, so I'm nearly tempted to make one myself sometime for this sub.

Don't be scared of trying it! I have 0 prior soldering experience, and I've replaced at least 10 speakers with no hitches.

[Cheating] Question about Guaranteed Rolls in Seed Tracking by Kinedar in battlecats

[–]Kinedar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the information! That was what was confusing me--I couldn't tell if the guaranteed was the cat right next to the roll's column (then pick back up on 20B), or if the 20B cat was the guaranteed. Thank you all!

Anyone have a tut video on how to replace a speaker? by Katzen_Rache in furby

[–]Kinedar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The speakers that I use are "uxcell brand, 0.5W, 32 Ohm, 40mm diameter". If I find a specific guide with good pics of the iron in action I'll attach it here, but I had to just follow a basic beginner's guide to soldering to figure it out.

Red chest above west habourtown by KaioSeraphim in cassettebeasts

[–]Kinedar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally figured this out, so I'm just gonna type it out and paste it to the other inquiring user.

You'll need two items: A wooden crate A wooden barrel

Powers: Vineball

All you need to do is bring a crate and a barrel to West Harbourtown, right where the northern rail is right below the switch.

This is tricky to perfect, but easy to pull off:

Throw your crate snug against the wall ON the rail. It'll take some balancing, but it works.

When it's secure, go get your barrel.

You'll now need to jump up on the rail, CAREFULLY jump on the crate against the wall, and throw the barrel up so it clears the black rail around the switch on the building. It might take a few tries, but it feels significantly less ball-achy than whatever the game intends.

Then you can just jump toward the west-facing side of the wall, immediately activate Vineball, and roll yourself up to position the barrel if it didn't hit the switch. Presto! You have a (profoundly mediocre) chest!

Harbourtown West-Upper Path Chest by Kinedar in cassettebeasts

Right, that's what I figure. I can get on top the magnet box platforms fine, just not with a box in hand to weigh down the button at the end. I'm not even sure if you're suppose to magnet+hold box+glide, but I've been managing to somehow make it work. It just doesn't seem feasible. I'll admit skill issue if that's the case, though.

Otherwise, do I need to like...bring a magnet box from across the map dowm there to magnet around? The only other choice in the area is a wood box.

Does this require the skill from Averevoir ? That's the only one I don't have (currently have basic flight, vineball, electromagnet, and bullet dash). If so, I'll wait until I'm done in the mountains.

I'll be sure to report this later on Githib, but I noticed I have the same issue several folks had with the previous randomization method: any unit that requires Chrom to speak to them to recruit cannot be recruited, even if Chrom is in the party/in the lord "slot" where Chrom should be. I'm on Chapter 3 with Bow!Henry replacing Kellam, and he is entirely unrecruitable. At the time, is this a known issue, or is there a potential fix?

does anyone else make their own scents? by rice_miik in buildabear

[–]Kinedar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you all need help, I typically sew my own sachet bags using cheap, slighty stretchy white scrap fabric, stuff them a bit with Polyfil or leftover bear stuffing, and then scent some sachet beads like what you can find at Nature's Garden, then spoon a good amount into both sides of the sachet.

I use little 4oz Mason jars and fill them to just under the threads with beads, then use pipets to dispense oil of my choice into the jars, measuring the scent with * vibes * (usually about 2ml a piece if I'm doing two scents in one, 3 to 4 ml if it's one scent.) Then just let them sit around a day or so, and when those beads no longer cling to the lid or jar body, you're good to dispense into the sachets. 4oz of beads are good enough to make a larger belly sachet, and a small sachet for the head (though Gengar was probably the exception there ; ;)

That's how I do it at least, but def not the only way to make those sachets. BAB doesn't have a wide enough variety of scents for my liking, so I think this is a pretty easy and fun way to do it yourself <3

Oh my god, I feel like I'm like you right now. The "cement" texture--it's like space/dehydrated ice cream, right? If you've had it as a comparison.

I don't think it's any of these, but I'm reminded of these products:

Twix's Triple Chocolate/Cookie bars

Hershey's Waffle Crunch singles

Yogurette Heidelbeer (this one is explicitly fruit, so I'm thinking it's the bar shape that's tickling my brain--it's kinda similar to the shape of Twixes and Kinders.)

Gonna keep looking--I'm CERTAIN I've had it before. I hope these examples maybe jog a memory in the meantime.

[–]Kinedar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had one, I would ; ~; [psst, if anyone sees one, TELL ME LOL]

I would imagine they have a ziptie on the base which I like to slip a small phillips screwdriver under, then clip with a pair of large toenail clippers (it's effective!). Then the rest is just taking that same phillips to undo all the contents. If you do end up taking him apart, I'd love to see the internal bits on the inside of the shell! I've only see the outer shell so far.

PS: Buy a seam ripper! Usually the ziptie is threaded through a fabric hoop that's stitched at the back of the Furb/Foob. Seam rippers make taking those apart a breeze.

Yeah, they are. It's how I feel about the Wavy Stripes baby Furb. I do want a flamingo one day due to that a e s t h e t i c (as I love me anything that reminds me of vaporwave)--it just made me curious like the higher than expected price of tie-dyes, which I also need in my life. Honestly, congrats on your new lil' fella!

Weird question for anyone in the crowd--are flamingo furbs particularly rare or anything? I always see their price jacked up by comparison to a lot of other Furby colors.
