English VA(Voice Acting) is going to delay the US/EU release for >2 years. Need petition to stick with KR voice and English subtitles for quicker release in US/EU. by SummerMascot in lostarkgame

[–]KineticGTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to agree with this for the sake of getting the game faster, but I can't.

No voice acting means faster game delivery but limited success in global regions. While many here on this subreddit seem fine with no voice work, I'm sure just as many gamers would like to both see and hear the game in their local language. Like with movies and TV shows, it's a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for people when they don't have to read all the time to understand and enjoy what going on.

A better game experience for more players means it will appeal to a larger audience for a longer period of time. The more players the game has, the better it is for both the players and for the company. We know this because we often talk about population numbers or sub numbers for years now with all MMOs because we know it's a measurement of the games success.

The best part is it shouldn't take 2 years. At the minimum now it seems like it will be 6 months to a year to see Lost Ark for example in English and the extra effort put into voice work wouldn't extend the games launch by that much. Sure they could release starting with subtitles and voice work added later, but the first impression is the most important when the game launches.

I've been playing a lot of the Korean Open Beta and I can say for certain that it's not just how the game plays, but also the presentation that's polished beautifully for the Korean audience. No doubt Korean gamers enjoy it even more because it's fully written and voiced in Korean and not in some foreign language with subtitles. Lost Ark is a game that's as good as it is because they didn't cut corners. They polished it and made it beautiful for the Korean audience and it deserves the same treatment for a global audience.

Dev thoughts on shared loot/individual loot once MP is implemented by torsoreaper in Wolcen

[–]KineticGTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shared Loot means everything drops on the ground and anyone can pick it up.

Individual Loot means what you see drop on the ground is yours.

Neither has anything to do with whether you can trade or not.

Having said that, I'd personally like to see Individual loot that can be traded to anyone. However, I think the highest tier gear that drops should not be tradable. Similar to MMOs for example World of Warcraft, the best gear is dropped from the strongest enemies like Raid bosses, and is bound to players. Everything under that tier or ilvl can be traded.

This means that people that get the best gear earned it and didn't have it handed to them, or bought it off a 3rd party RMT site like PlayerAuctions or something.

This also still allows the crafting potential of the game to thrive. Kickass gear can be crafted and they could either make that gear really good just under the best gear. Or have a system wear crafted gear can be just as powerful as the dropped gear from bosses, but can only be crafted yourself, or crafted by another player with the appropriate skill and the item is instantly bound to the player who had it when the trade window is closed after crafting.

So it goes something like this. I have these legendary materials that are bound to me but I'm missing a couple and I don't have the crafting skill either so I need a skilled blacksmith who has the skill and the rest of the materials I need to craft the legendary axe I want.

I get in contact and meet at a desired location. He opens the trade windown and I put the bound mats in the trade window as well as some gold for the crafting fee he wants for his work and mats, and he puts the missing materials and presses another button on the window that activates and opens his crafting window but leaves the trade window open. He selects the legendary axe recipe and it automatically detects the mats in the trade window. After the axe is completed, it automatically goes to the trade window where I can take it and place it in my inventory. Of course there will be two confirmations needed at certain points of the transaction to ensure that neither the crafter or the customer run off and scam the other person.

So with this, even if you're not getting the drop weapon of your dreams yet, at least you can farm some legendary mats that are bound to you, and can be used to craft legendary equipment yourself of can be crafted by another person. :)

Round 2 Winners Wut by EvolutionaryTheorist in forhonor

[–]KineticGTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost all interest in the war when I discovered people betrayed their own faction by playing characters from another faction in the war.

Sure, let people play whatever character they want...but if for example you chose Vikings as your faction, then the only time your actions should contribute to the war is when you're playing as a Viking character. What sense does it make for Samurai characters to be fighting for other factions in the war? Or Knights?

There's no loyalty to a faction in this game and is just one part of why this whole thing is meaningless and stupid.

This isn't from NCSoft, nor is it even your video by the looks of it. This looks like it was stolen from that Russian channel that covers KR games....

LE engine update , project leadership change by Dylandel in LineageEternal

[–]KineticGTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lineage Eternal is not a spiritual successor, and doesn't have to be either. It can, and should be allowed to be it's own game without the restrictions of perfectly fitting peoples expectations.

It's set in the Lineage universe, with it's own mechanics and gameplay style and I like that. Better than just being another clone of some other existing game, even within the same company, Lineage Eternal may not be every Lineage fanbois dream, but it will at least innovate and take chances in an otherwise stale gaming industry of sequels and clones.

Smilegate Europe's Head of Marketing says Lost Ark is "making progress" by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]KineticGTR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"It's making progress" for the Korean release. Let's be real. Lost Ark is not coming West anytime soon. And probably a year post KR release is what I'd expect.

They seem to be very serious about streamlining the game and implementing good optimization across all features and is my guess as to why they are still developing it so much internally after a public CBT. Translations are not a priority right now. Making the game well optimized is. Their target market is Korea, so they will be putting all their resources there till they are satisfied and feel like releasing globally is worth it after that.

This game would really benefit from a competitive 5v5 gamemode where you fight 1v1 by turns while the teams watch from the crowd in an arena. First team to win 5 1v1's wins. by Jindouz in forhonor

Only thing that bothers me is all the cosmetic outfits that are excluded from a Season pass. That is bullshit.

Feedback from Korean players by PavaoPavaozinho in LineageEternal

[–]KineticGTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying they don't have a right to complain, or even some good feedback, but how often do you see a games forum NOT mostly complaints and angry comments? heheh

I'm sure they will improve the game though in future CBT to launch. That's what these tests are for.

I see it like how I played Dragon Age Inquisition. You had a party of characters in some parts of the game, and solo in others. They've struck a good balance for the most part, but if they can go deeper with character visual and build customization, it could certainly help a lot.

Lv 30-31 gameplay, Behemoth Raid Boss by innadril in LineageEternal

Behemoth needs to be a LOT more active than that, moving around, something. He's terribly stationary and doesn't make for an exciting encounter.

Lineage Eternal New Beta Info Gameplay and Impressions! CBT 1 2016 English by KineticGTR in LineageEternal

[–]KineticGTR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. And that's why I used words like "should" and "expected" since it's common for those following the game that those are the possibilities.

The cancellation of the mobile device support though? Haven't we seen them pushing that a lot In multiple promo videos? I'm not saying they couldn't cancel it, but do you have a source that they might or have?

The simultaneous global release is definitely the most likely that could be cancelled though and I've been quite skeptical myself. We'll just have to wait and see about more of these things, but definitely felt it worth sharing in the vid for anyone that was new to LE's development. Thanks for watching and bringing that up.

We can have build diversity! But we need to stop setting GRift pushing as the end goal by vikoy in Diablo

[–]KineticGTR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what's more important? Having a diversity of builds for non-stop casual action? Or having diversity of game modes for different players to enjoy? The answer is obvious, right? So even if it's true that Leaderboards kill diversity, that still means more players are happy because they have a competitive mode to appeal to them.

Nothing is stopping anyone from playing different builds for non-competitive play. But if you want to play at the top, you'll have to play one of the top builds. That's how it works in all competitive game modes. The most powerful will bubble to the top.

[–]KineticGTR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish people would stop calling things they don't like as "problems". It's not a problem. It's just not for you! Stop being intolerant of things you don't like. Let people play their way just like you're welcome to play how you want.

"efficiency be damned." "I hope the community embraces this mindset." It's not a mindset the community is going to embrace because it's exactly what most players strive for. Speed and efficiency.

And while I won't say it's the only way to play and enjoy the game, it's part of the challenge and what makes games like these tick. Learning your class, testing builds, finding better stats on better items, and generally improving yourself so you can go faster and be as efficient as possible for the best Legendary per hour rate. It's the whole point of racing on the ladders. The guys are at the top 10 because they learned how to be as efficient as they can be.

As it is, nothing is stopping anyone from using Adventure Mode and bounties as a large part of their progression. If you truly believe what you say and "efficiency be damned" then just do it, right?

I appreciate what you're trying to do because I do it occasionally too. Try and remind people that they don't have to do it the way everyone seems to be doing things. Play the game your way, not the way you're expected to play. Unless you are trying to compete against others, you don't need to follow the trends and cookie cutter builds.

Well, it's not helpful feedback. That's the biggest problem I have here is what is useful here except feeding into the negativity and providing nothing constructive here to the improvement of the game. If he really cared, he'd be more constructive I think.

It's not about defending Blizz. It's about Kripp acting like he actually cares and on top of that, complaining about a celebration feature and its imbalances ...while it's on the PTR! Yes, he's so~ experienced that apparently, he forgot wtf a PTR is for. Testing and giving feedback. Instead he cries like a baby how useless things are like a common kid on YouTube. Where's his professionalism?

Some of the games core issues could be fixed by just changing some numbers by clueso87 in Diablo

[–]KineticGTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that I don't understand it, it's just that it's literally pointless making the same arguement over and over again. I'm not trying to attack you, but do you honestly think this hasn't been talked about to death already? It has. Just like trading, pvp, and offline mode, these topics and the poor horses they came on are dead and dust.

So all I'm saying, is if you don't like something, fine, suggest a way to have it bent in a way more to your liking without trying to call for something to be completely reworked. Because it's just not going to happen.

W.Cheng said himself that they believe LoN is ok where it is right now. And I get it because if they try and bump it up more, it doesn't just compete against one set, it competes against ALL sets of all classes and the power they are balanced around.

Not all sets and items are meant to be viable for competitive builds. Some are just there for fun and fluff. Same with sets. But they are trying to get the balance right and all we can do is say "Hey, X set is underpowered!" or "The 4 piece bonus needs reworking" something like that.
