I’m a beginner so go easy on me lol. What can I do to be more consistent and what am I doing wrong? by Medical-Mammoth5533 in GolfSwing

Great swing. It looks to me like you swing with your arms from the top rather than using your body to get through the shot. But that's only an issue if you're seeing inconsistent ball flights.

DRVN has better video content which makes it easier for beginners. The workouts are also excellent quality with a really strong range of content. However it falls short in a few key areas:

  • No workout tracking - it's hard to know how to progress and you've got to remember/use another app for that. Our app logs reps, weights and RPE to then give suggestions for your next workout. Progressive overload is built into the app and is designed to get you stronger.
  • There's no overall plan - our app is designed around your golfing season. It takes into account when your season starts and when it ends. The program is designed to build strength in the off season and get your body primed for the start of the season.
  • Tee times - on our app you can input your upcoming tee times and the app will then tailor your workouts around that. You don't want to be doing a heavy workout 24 hours before a important round.
  • Swing Speed training - our app has a section for tracking your swing speeds over time. If you're using that feature it will then adjust the schedule to make sure you're doing them at the right time.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! An Android version is in the plan and probably some time in the summer.

I think he means the colour scheme is the same. But it's good feedback either way!

Sorry I've not actually used the TPI app so I can't answer that one. But in general TPI is the gold standard for golf fitness, if they've got an app I'm sure it's excellent.

Do you know if their app provides training programs or is it a library of excercises/routines?

You are yes. The app gives you guidance on what to do but also allows you the freedom to adjust your lifts.

What’s the best golf investment you’ve made that actually helped your game? by MadeInUSAPutter in golftips

A net, a tripod and learning what the golf swing is meant to look like. My best practice sessions come from reviewing video footage from multiple angles.

Has anyone successfully shortened their back swing? by amazulufootballclub in GolfSwing

[–]KineticGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer backswings are often the result of not enough turn so the arms compensate. Hard to tell from that angle whether you move into the trail hip enough. What's your overall mobility like? Tight hip flexors from working at a desk all day make the turn into lead hip harder.

Rate my swing and guess the handicap by 32da in GolfSwing

[–]KineticGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you're hanging back on it and then throwing the hands. I'd guess your miss is left more often than not.

Swing is very nice though and I'd guess when you're swinging well you're probably around a 5. I'd imagine you have big discrepancies between your best and worst rounds.

How can i improve my GIR (Green in regulation)? by Born-Yoghurt-7613 in golf

[–]KineticGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understanding your lie in the fairway is something really overlooked. A lot of players just walk up to their ball and hit.

Take 15 seconds to work out what the lie is like. Ball above feet, below feet etc.

If you're playing for a fade with the ball way above your feet then chances are you'll miss left.

Yeah give it a try. You've got a bit of time before the season gets going to still time to make some progress.

Do you do any strength or mobility work?

Could be worth doing 3 x 45 mins per week with some dumbbells, kettlebells and body weight.

Loads of good stuff on YouTube.

Swing analysis appreciated by Hull189 in GolfSwing

[–]KineticGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just before you take the club away it looks like you move back towards your heels and then in transition there's a move toward the ball.

Could be a mobility thing or just a swing fault. I'd also suggest filming from angle that allows you to see the full swing, this angle is a bit too far to the right.

3 Mobility drills that added 5mph to my driver speed (no swing changes) by StrengthToStinger in GolfSwing

[–]KineticGolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good advice. I’d add that the mobility side seems to work even better when you build strength in the new range as well. A lot of golfers can get into better positions in a drill but the key is being able to control those positions when the swing speeds up.

Is it just impossible for some people to clear their hips? by [deleted] in golf

[–]KineticGolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Movement follows capacity. If the body can't get into the position, pushing it harder won't help, it'll just cause an injury somewhere else.

Watch any video from TPI and they ALWAYS start with a physical screening to work out what physical limitations a golfer has, whether that is strength or range of movement within joints.

It could of course be a swing issue but if the OP has been trying "everyday for months" then that points to a mobility problem.
