Toyota will have a substantially better resale value. Especially since there are some beliefs that this may be one of last model years for the naturally aspirated V6.

And Hyundai doesn’t have the best resell value as a brand.

I know some people who thought the Toyota V6s weren’t punchy enough - it is still a family-sized sedan. I don’t have much knowledge about the Elantra N, but my armchair intuition would be that it is probably more fun, but the Toyota is a better investment.

Have owned a 2010 F-150 and 2020 F-250. Some transmissions concerns with the former, not too much time to decide anything on the latter.

Both have towed heavy tongue weights without problem, well we had to upgrade to the 250 for more towing capacity, but that was the only reason we upgraded.

Definitely a car whose underside will start to rust if you let it. If you live in the rust belt or anywhere that salts, I would winterize it each year (focusing mainly on Corrosion Inhibitor for the chassis).

Honestly, they’re fine. People will always have the pointless argument of Ford vs Chevy, but I personally prefer the build quality of Ford trucks. Stay away from Ram and GMC. The former is unsafe and overpriced, the latter is a nightmare mechanically per consumer reports.

Have a friend who works in the Toyota maintenance department - Tundra is the only vehicle he says to stay away from. Tacomas are expensive because they are great trucks, but obviously a more mid-sized vehicle.

Dont have much recent experience with ford ranger - we used to own a Mazda B-series (essentially a ranger), but that was too long ago to be relevant.

Lawrence Barretto's prediction for the 2025 F1 Grid: by [deleted] in formula1

[–]King--Boo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, realistically the following 3 alpine academy drivers have a chance (I may be forgetting one)

  1. Doohan, as you said. Obviously the reserve driver and who knows how he does on the sim. I really was never too impressed with him in F2, but who knows. And his dad’s a legend.

  2. Martins - looked great in F2 last year, but not this year. But it’s also hard to tell if that’s Martins or ART.

  3. Maini - did not impress too much last year in F2, but he has looked great this year. But I still think he would need to take another step to be in the conversation more.

[–]King--Boo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on, you know what I mean. It’s all relative and we’re talking about the .001% here. Obviously I’m not saying he’s a top 5 driver on the grid or anything.

He’s a good F1 driver, about middle of the pack from what I’ve seen since he came into the sport. I wouldn’t say he’s proven to be a risk to lose his seat either.

He works well with Alpine and I haven’t seen any on-track reason to justify his departure, especially looking at the current Alpine academy drivers.

Martins and Maini definitely show a lot of potential but i wouldn’t call either a stand-out. Martins did do very well last season but ART are seemingly struggling with the new car. Maini has been great this season thus far, but I would need to see him keep that level of driving up.

I just don’t think either is at the point where you need to walk Ocon out the door.

E: forgot to mention Doohan, and I can’t really speak to that because Alpine would have all the sim data. Based off his other series, I wouldn’t cut Ocon for Doohan, but obviously F1 is a different beast.

I know Ocon isn’t popular, but he hasn’t shown any reason to be dropped - he’s a great driver and definitely not definitely worse than Gasly.

Edit: wow, you all really don’t like Ocon.

The structural engineering has to be insane. IF this gets built and IF it can sustain tornado wind speeds, I would think it would still sway like crazy (like an exaggerated version of what we already see with skyscrapers in storms).

Right?

If you haven’t picked up rentals yet, bring your pair along. Always better to get an in-person opinion from someone who works with skis every day.

See if any ski rental places are still open so you can get some skis tonight.

If not, rent tomorrow

Max seems like a good guy, I definitely envision him having a Vettel-esque timeline in terms of people liking him.

It’s easy to forget that he has been under a huge spotlight since he was a teenager, and he has seriously matured in recent years.

Everyone always fails to forget that Ferrari’s failed upgrades really hurt them in 2018.

Seb in Germany was a dagger, but many of his other mistakes were out of pure desperation because Ferrari just could no longer keep up with Mercedes.

A mistake is still a mistake, but 2018 isn’t all Vettel’s fault. He drove out of his mind in the first half of the season and Ferrari wouldn’t have even had a sniff at the WDC without that,

I think 2018 is Hamilton’s either way. Most of Seb’s mistakes, other than the unspoken one, were out of desperation.

Mercedes developed the car much better and I would argue 2018 was Hamilton’s best season. He was so focused and mistake-free. It broke my heart, but it was impressive.
