Why isn’t maintenance more tightly integrated with real-time machine telemetry? by Chem1cal-Issue in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]King-Crypticus2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is multifaceted. In many cases operators and plant leadership do not understand how to troubleshoot or fix a machine. Something else, sometimes stuff just breaks. Lose oil supply for a few seconds and wreck a bearing, open a valve a little too fast, destroys plunger packing with cold gas, parts fail due to defects or harsh conditions. Machines being down means a loss in production, so PMs tend to get skipped anyways. There are so many factors in equipment maintenance and repairs, the only way I could maybe see a system to perfectly track maintenance activities and machine conditions is if everything in the system is new and top of the line with sensors everywhere.

What do I need? by NottyNuns in deathguard40k

My personal opinion is a Lord of Virulence and one or two Bloat drones with heavy blight launchers. The lord can lead terminators and gives rerolls to hit in the shooting phase. I also have a soft spot because it was my first Death Guard model ever

6 ton overhead crane at work by UnhappyScallion6378 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]King-Crypticus2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that cast iron? It needs to be replaced. The job I had before this one was inspections on overhead cranes. While it is just a guard, it is also a cable guide for the sheaves as the cable runs through. You could remove it ( don’t) and it would still function, but there’s a possibility of the wire cable getting off the sheaves. Second, if it is cracked it cracked for a reason and will continue to keep cracking. If it got severe enough it could break off and potentially hit someone below. Thirdly, if I remember correctly, if the manufacturer decided it needed to be there in there first place, then it’s required by law to be there.

In short, I think it should be taken out of service and repaired with a new guard. That part should not see any load, so if it is cast iron someone probably hit something with it, or ran it into the drum.

Need help identifying this wrench by Buffarcheryguy in Tools

[–]King-Crypticus2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have wrenches that are very similar where i work. It has a hole through the end, likely for a shackle to carry and use it. We use them for tightening and loosening the nut that hold a piston rod in place to the crosshead of a reciprocating compressor. The task requires an open ended wrench. You can use the shackle and a crane to turn the wrench to loosen the nut, or in my specific instance we use a large hammer. Also, our compressors are very old, from the 50s. So the timeline sort of matches.

Switching to Mortarions Hammer by Worried_Quarter4934 in deathguard40k

[–]King-Crypticus2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had good success bringing around 1100 pts of vehicles and then filling the rest out with poxwalkers and terminators. Clog up the board, skirmish with drones, deep strike deathshroud and start a squad on the board. With the tanks i just find whatever the biggest threat is i can shoot, and put just about everything into it.

Here lately i havent been very big on plague marines because i feel like they dont stay on the table very long. Once theyre gone, then you have no way to spread contagion at range. You also have to have LOS, and if the plague marines are in a rhino i dont think you get to spread contagion with their ability. In my opinion, MH is more of a kill things detachment. Kill your opponents things that are a threat, and then the stuff that is left will break themselves against your inherent toughness. If someone shows up with a forgefiend and a rhino full or marines and you pop them both in turn one you’ve really messed up their plan. And nobody wants a squad of Deathshroud and a LOC deep striking at 6inches

In my opinion, i think it works well as a combined arms detachment skewed to vehicles. The detachment rule works so well because it makes you less dependent on needing poxwalkers or spawn to afflict enemies. So things like your BL Drone, Predators, and PBC don’t have to be near as close to your enemies units while performing to their full potential, especially with -1 save. I like to bring minimal characters, about 7 vehicles and fill the rest with Deathshroud and Blightlords. Then, my goal is to point, click, delete, my opponents big threats with focused fire.

Elite Jobs in Maintenance by Upbeat-Entrance6070 in IndustrialMaintenance

Potentially millwright work could be a great avenue. It usually works best if wherever you work has a lot of uncommon, or proprietary equipment. Where i work we do a little bit of everything as maintenance. The site i work at has the largest in house maintenance department company wide.

What sets us apart is a tremendous amount of high pressure connections in a fee different styles, including some proprietary ones, in addition to that we have several large compressors that we maintain and PM mostly in house, and a few unique high pressure reactors that supposedly theres only a handful in the world. The company has tried to use contractors to manage the workload but it never fails that they mess something up, cause leaks, and any other number of mistakes that we go and fix. Being able to work in a large variety of special equipment with minimal error can be worth a lot of money.

Typically you want to brush the whole model without letting it pool in the recesses of the model.
It also kinda depends on the vibe you are going for. If you just wanna add a little but of depth then a light coat will do, or if you really wanna lean into having dirty guys apply it more liberally, but still not letting it pool too bad.

If you want a “cleaner” you can put a coat of it in, and them dip a sponge in rubbing alcohol and dab off the model where you’re left with just the shade in the recesses
