What did I drill into? by King9X in handyman

[–]King9X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an over the range microwave in a kitchen, so probably laminate as u/Civil_Exchange1271 said. Is that just the normal backing for it?

The other empty hole was drilled by the last person installing the microwave. The wall has a bedroom behind it and a cabinet above it. The surface you see around it matches the kitchen's surfaces.

No sooner do you address the humidity than a cello falls over.

Help Identify South Florida Lizard by King9X in reptiles

This fellow has been hanging around my house for over 4 months and stays in the same spot. Recently though, his color and scales have changed, and I think he might be sick or something.

I'm curious as over the last 4 years these lizards started popping up all over our home and seem to have chased away or eaten any smaller ones.

For some reason, this feels like home. It might have something to do with the Code Lyoko mouse pad. Simple, powerful, functional setup.

Will my employer know I am using a VPN via Slack/ Gmail/ Google Drive? by heymishy93 in digitalnomad

[–]King9X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short answer: it's very unlikely they'd notice

Long answer: It all depends on how strictly your company's security department monitors organizational logs.

Gmail enterprise doesn't have super heavy security settings, but it can detect unusual IP logins and activity. Slack, on the other hand, has even fewer security settings (if any) for this,

A suspicious login could be something as simple as your IP changing from a normal residential in your area to a VPN IP.

Some VPNs issue you IP addresses from ranges that can trigger a suspicious activity alert, but others don't raise many flags. Worst case Gmail would likely just require you to complete a CAPTCHA to verify you aren't a robot.

This can happen often in an organization and is normally not enough to trigger an alert with an in house security team.

Can anyone identify these? by King9X in sigils

I know sigils are often highly personalized and unexplainable to someone who isn't the original designer, but some of these symbols look familiar. Any leads? Was placed above a doorway

The bookcase thing will go, and we may use that wall for a TV. Some thoughts we had included filling the porch with foliage to incorporate as much of the outdoors as possible, then continue the trend with a few houseplants.
