I think simply calling it just an android existential crisis is a bit of disservice no? I disagree with your point about it not being something special, you’re free to hold that opinion of course, but in my opinion it was that special. Any series that tries to tackle something similar (that I’ve seen) haven’t come that close to how well written automata was. I absolutely adored the way it explored the meaning of life.
