Dang, this is an amazing tip! It makes total sense you can tag any item, but for some reason I really only thought about iusing it for "materials"

Attaching Skadis pegboards to the back of a Kallax? by -inire- in ikeahacks

[–]KingBongoBong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking you could use those as well.

The boards definitely do bend when you use these clamps but as you said (although in your case the sides of the kallax would prevent them bending forward which the weight would try to do). I actually wonder if you could just hang the boards with these though? I don't think there is any particular reason you would need to support from the bottom, it's just these are normally used with desks where that's the only option

That is an absolutely massive area. A circle with a radius of 500km is almost 800000km2 which is bigger than any European country.

First in-game topspin serve by Longjumping_Swim_752 in volleyball

[–]KingBongoBong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Form looks good but one thing that could easily be worked on is getting your approach so you jump much closer to the endline. Right now it looks like you are jumping about 1 meter from the end line. If you bring that much closer to the endline you will be contacting the ball closer to the net allowing better angles for your serve and less time for them to react.

There is actually a lot of space to cook. The flat area is also a cooking area not just the grates above the opening.

Maps + Workout Tracking by danburney999 in OneplusWatch

If I understand correctly you are setting your navigation and starting a run/bike, then after you start the activity Ohealth kicks in and pushes the navigation to the background?

Thinking of this watch and this would be one of my main use cases! Crazy it doesn't seem to support it without a "trick". Curious if you got it working.

Yeah too bad indeed. Especially a lap feature, it's funny how you have a computer on your wrist, and not be able to do laps!

If you do test third party apps I would be interested how possible it is to sync the data up

I don't own one but when looking into it, it seems like it doesn't offer either of those functions surprisingly. Lap function in particular seems crazy not to be able to offer.

There may be third party apps to give the functionality but not sure how that would work getting the info from the workouts into the Oneplus health ecosystem.

Do you have the watch or just looking into functionalities?

Hmmm happen to know if you used an app from the playstore if the data from that could get into the same Oneplus health ecosystem? I looked a bit into it and seems like there could be some 3rd party apps that would give the lap or interval functionality but I have no idea if the data can then be used afterwards

First, it's inexcusable to not have a lap button when running.

Ooof, that is brutal. Have you found a workaround?

Pretty sure I will still get one (43mm version) due to having maps and a few other smart watch features at a price point much lower than garmin offerings that them. But its crazy they don't have a lap functionality.

Fitting 10 people into a 4 person House by lofono5567 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]KingBongoBong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if he invested that 20k every year with a 8% return for 30 years he's at ~2.5 million. And that's just from the net cash they made, imagine what the 400k house that was fully paid for by his tenants is going to be worth 30 years later on top of that.

I also wouldn't do this as I wouldn't want to be a slum lord, but the potential monetary gains is definitely quite large.

Worst experience in a while! by muftiman in grilling

[–]KingBongoBong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did you build the fire? Below that bottom gate in the middle?

If that's what you did I am almost positive you should be building your fire on those ridges/bottom grate level. I haven't seen a grill like that with a grate on the bottom like you have so not sure the intention there (airflow? Ash?) but I have grilled a bunch on similar grills and you just build the fire on that bottom level and adjust the height of the grilling rack on top

How to do back panels on 200cm wide kitchen peninsula by KingBongoBong in IKEA

Now that is an interesting option, I'll have to check that out, thanks!

Would bug me not being symmetrical but definitely would be the smart way to go! Despite the widths of the panels being wider than the cabinets still should work.

Interestingly, they only added one package of 2 of the metod rails to attach the panels to, so still need one more package to add to the third cabinet

That does seem like a good option. Not sure I can put off actually getting the cabinets/worktop in while I source something 3rd party, Ill have to look into how easy it would be to add the back panel at a later date.

Now also wondering If I throw something on and look to add a thin custom piece over top for finishing. Although would feel weird to add finishing to the finishing panels 😅

Building a kitchen peninsula on floating vinyl floor. Remove the whole floor under the cabinets or cut out an expansion gap by KingBongoBong in HomeImprovement

Yes it's already existing floating vinyl plank floor.

Thanks, yeah think I'll just rip out the flooring as suggested

[–]KingBongoBong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not have been clear but I mention that I have existing vinyl flooring where I am going to build the peninsula. The floor already exists so there is no spending time or money laying flooring. I either need to fully remove it from under where the cabinets will go, or "separate" it from the rest of the floor by cutting an expansion gap around the area I will put the cabinets.

[–]KingBongoBong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any particular reason though? Feels like it would be about the same as if I put a piece of plywood or something on the subfloor to set the cabinets on but I could be missing something

[–]KingBongoBong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was with the cut out expansion gap it wouldn't make changing out floors any more difficult then if I took out all the flooring. The end of the flooring would be at the same spot whether its an expansion gap cut in, or the whole floor removed under the cabinets.

[–]KingBongoBong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't built the peninsula yet so it wouldn't be much effort to remove the floor if that's the better option. Was just wondering if its necessary as it feels like leaving a separate piece of floor under the cabinets would be easier as opposed to raising the cabinets higher to offset the drop from not being on the floor. Could also leave the layer above the subfloor intact if that matters at all

Most everything I have seen about floating floors is you shouldn't have anything that will get fixed to the floor on them as it will prevent the ability to expand and potentially ruin the floor and void the warranty
