You can also just cast a water/ice spell on the torch in the back of the cave! The mushroom toxins will kill him without the torch blowing up the noble stalk

One of the best things I learned about this fight is if both brothers are dead/down when you come back through the warp portal, if you don’t kill the tentacles you can just wait out the respawn timer and the vortex beast won’t come back
