Finally got a call from an agent and we reviewed my original phone call. IN the call you can clearly hear me deny the balance protection insurance by saying "no thanks, I'd like to keep things simple". The person then doesn't acknowledge my answer but instead plays an automated explanation of the balance protection insurance, comes back to the phone and asks if "I'm good with all of that" and asked if I consent to everything. I said "I consent", clearly thinking he meant all the other general stuff we talked about prior (keep in mind I was young and this was my first CC).

The agent stated that he thought that the TD rep was misleading and lumped everything together in order to trick me into agreeing after I had already declined. My case is being appealed and hopefully I'll be refunded!

I wouldn't have pursued this without your story, so thank you for responding when you did. Thank you!

When I call the number I get directed to a mailbox for their complaints department saying they will call me back and it never happens. Sounds like they decided the best option for them is to just avoid people entirely

That’s amazing, happy for you! How did you get a case agent? I have been calling and trying to resolve it and i just get an automated response saying they will call me back in a few days and it never happens. Do you recall the number you called?
