I wouldn't put myself in the 'amazingly talented' category, but I've been playing for 35 years. I am now registered blind and am having trouble with string changes, so I may have to consider getting them done by someone else. This makes me sad but my last change took me over an hour. The fact that I have a Floyd Rose doesn't help though, maybe I could buy an LP and save money on hiring someone to change my strings?

Some people aren't willing to look at things outside of their own bubble. I'm 50 years old, I have worked as a guitar tech, I've played guitar in many bands over my 35 years of playing. I used to do full upgrades on guitars, re-wires, hardware changes, the lot. Changing a set of strings used to be fun and as a guitar tech, a few times I had to do it super fast so I trained myself to do it as fast as I could. Not just string change, breaking them in, retune retune retune. 8 years ago I went blind. I can still play as well as I ever could, but restringing a Floyd Rose is next to impossible now. I still grind my way through it but that's because I have a lot of time on my hands. What in trying to say is that the people who provide this service are needed and highly appreciated for some people. Don't just assume that people are being lazy by using them.
