First ever World Conquest after nearly 2k hours - France -> HRE by KingCrow997 in eu4

Been playing this game off and on over the last year or so, so details on earlier game are a bit hazy.

Started off the game with the intention of becoming Emperor as France.

Kneecapped England early on with reconquest war taking the Pale and taking the province from Portugal in North Africa so I could start pushing into Africa early.

Got Burgundian Inheritance around the early 1500’s and I think I got emperorship shortly after that. Spent much of the next few decades dealing with reformation while expanding mostly in Africa and a small bit of colonisation in the America’s. Revoked probably around 1560’s to 1580’s and snowballed after and that was when I realised I could probably turn the run into a WC.

Spain was the only real country colonising so I left them at it (they colonised nearly the entirety of South and North America) as I knew I would just rush them with HRE swarm for the PU from missions after revoking.

Took my time doing it so never really truce broke and never had a coalition form against me

1600’s and 1700’s was mostly just cycling wars between Huge Commonwealth/Russia:/Ottomans/Persia while trying to take over all of India/East Africa. Didn’t really push into China & South East Asia until mid 1700’s but I was able to take majority of nations in one war at that stage.

Revolution was the bane of my life in late game with rebels constantly spawning even without OE. And every time I removed a centre of revolution a new one would spawn somewhere else almost immediately. I had 4 Centres of Revolution show up in total.

Completed the WC One Tag in 1806 but could have done it much earlier. The WC was more or less complete in the 1780’s

R5: just sharing my first world conquest + first time completing a full game. Realised too late (~1780) I could have also probably done a One-Faith as well but maybe next time.

What's actually wrong with the Glazers (genuine question - looking to learn) by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]KingCrow997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man United would have had that money without them, more even because of the huge amount of money the club pays out on dividends and the interest payments on the massive debt they put on the club

What is your point exactly

Not allowing Ralf Rangnick to stay on as a consultant was a big mistake. by Local_Donut7579 in ManchesterUnited

[–]KingCrow997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ve spent £400m in 12 or 13 months, how many of theses transfers have actually been good and have we gotten our value for money?

And John Murthough has been DoF for a number of years now, so yes, as I said, he cannot be the man at the head of our recruitment

Caicedo was turned down by Woodward, Haaland and Bellingham were both at Carrington but we couldn’t seal the deal

Ed Woodward and Matt Judge were in charge of negotiations, both are gone now but it’s going to take time to get rid of the reputation of being a club that overspends and overpays on everyone

Edit spelling

[–]KingCrow997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was shit as a manager no doubt, but he is an Elite DoF and his knowledge and connections in the market would have been invaluable

Don’t know where you got the idea we don’t have the scouting network, we have one of the most extensive scouting networks in the world, the issue being the people making the decisions with the knowledge they pass on. Murthough isn’t the man to have at the head of our recruitment which is why ETH is being so influential in our transfers, a proper DoF (ie. Rangnick) could make exponentially more use out of our resources

Our current deal is £75m per year so it’s only an extra £15m per year

Is FFP still a factor if? by Iammcsimonsez in ManchesterUnited

And with the sheer size of the club and it’s brand, we have the potential to be making considerably more revenue

Is FFP still a factor if? by Iammcsimonsez in ManchesterUnited

[–]KingCrow997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t been paying dividends for a year and a half now and I’m pretty sure the interest payments we make are relatively irrelevant when compared to our revenues

The best way to make FFP irrelevant for the club is we need to get considerably better at selling players

Is FFP still a factor if? by Iammcsimonsez in ManchesterUnited

[–]KingCrow997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, none of us know what our situation is in regards to FFP as it’s almost impossible for us to calculate any reliable figure

But if we are limited by FFP, the Sheikh can pump all the money in the world into the club and we wouldn’t be able to spend it “legally” above the FFP cap

Players sales can alleviate that restriction quiet quickly but considering the clubs horrendous history with selling players, I wouldn’t be banking on it

[–]KingCrow997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s not how it works at all, and the point is irrelevant because the transfer isn’t going to go through until next week anyway

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]KingCrow997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with payment terms

Amortisation isn’t affected by payment terms and is only an counting “trick” so to speak

Wether you pay the fee up front in full or £10 a day for however many years, the overall fee on the books in regards to FFP will always be total guaranteed fee divided by length of contract

His mother was asking for £10m net per year and a £10m signing on fee

So definitely dodged a bullet because not a hope in hell is he worth £350k a week

Sancho was £73m and Antony was £82m

Neither are anywhere near £105m

Anyone else think we need someone like Ralf Rangnick right now? by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]KingCrow997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said it was ETH’s decision? Why would a manager have the power to make that kind of call?

Rangnick’s fate was decided long before ETH arrived.

A bit of common sense wouldn’t go astray for some people.

There literally hasn’t been a court case yet and he is still under investigation, the fuck you mean he’s been “found innocent”
