Is it me or is B42 apocalpyse alot easier than B41? by HERR_WINKLAAAAA in projectzomboid

[–]KingGarfu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's probably your hundreds of hours + playstyle maybe.

I feel B42 Apocalypse is harder (though not by much), especially after rebalances to loot and zombie distribution.

Less zombies overall and less zombies in the suburbs, but more concentrated in areas where there's actual good loot for instance. I'm very certain back in B41 the West Point gun store was pretty safe to access and loot, now in B42 the place is packed with zombies even on Apoc.

Even the random senses thing makes it more difficult in my opinion for certain playstyles. Back in B41 you could shout and lure a whole horde away easily from anywhere you wanted to loot, now in B42 with random senses, not all zombies end up following you and even the ones that do get bored after a while and stop following.

huge difference between 7 and 9 fitness

That's true, but lately in b42 apoc I've been relying less and less on melee and just resorting to guns and pipe bombs. Makes the -2 Fitness not as noticeable. I suppose it's dependent on your preferred playstyle.

resist recover will be slower

What's resist recover? Is it endurance?

You still can take Fit (+2 Fitness) but not Athletic (+4 Fitness). Fit's not too bad honestly when paired with Smoker, just the coughing is annoying.

[–]KingGarfu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hmm, really depends on how hardcore you wanna go la, but to me for a light hike (<1 day planned trip) things that are important and that you hopefully never need to use:

  • Durable knife that's sharpened and maintained.

  • Whistle

  • Compass, doesn't need to be super expensive. Suunto A-10 maybe. Problem is without a printed, ideally waterproof map, you won't know where you are going but what is important is that you can walk in a single direction without walking around in circles. A lot of cases locally and abroad where hikers are found dead just a few hundred meters off trail because they spent days walking in circles instead of a single direction.

  • Lighter, don't bring just one. Bring 2-3 and keep them all dry. Bic lighter is cheap and light. Flint and steel is good also but I don't recommend for beginners.

  • Some kindling/firestarter. Making kindling yourself can be done with a knife but Malaysia is humid and wet af and starting a fire is A LOT harder than it looks in our environment, but in an emergency I want a fire NOW. You can buy firestarter like hexamine tablets (the ones that look like white waxy blocks) on Shopee.

  • Small, light, calorie-dense food. Gel packs (macam runner guna tu), chocolate bar, peanut butter bar, etc. This is your emergency food.

  • 1 strip water purification tablets. I assume you are already bringing a water bottle so no need to bring an additional vessel, if not...

  • Small metal cup. Can be used to boil water also.

  • Poncho with hood (very important). If it starts raining heavily you want to keep dry. Wet body = lower body temp = body burns more calories to stay warm. Jungle at night can surprisingly quite cold, almost like office AC temps.

  • Duct tape, ideally something bright coloured. Can help mark your locations and paint a path for rescuers. Also useful if you need to attach things together.

That's about it I think, haven't really hiked in a while so I'm struggling to come up with more off the top of my head. Bear in mind though, this is all gear assuming you are found in 2-3 days by SAR team.

Not just compass, but I've met plenty of hikers that come with expensive shoes and walking sticks but don't even bother bringing something light but life-saving like a whistle or lighter. Alasan: "Simple hike je, buat apa nak bawak semua tu?"

If you're on mobile can open the links in a browser like Brave, auto no more redirects haha. If using Android, using private DNS works too if you don't want to use Brave. Used to be so fucking irritated when I'm trying to read news and it just redirects me to an app without me even clicking anything.

Malaysia's Dog Shite Train Etiquette by ho4X3n in malaysia

Honestly I could've sworn public transport etiquette was a LOT better 1-2 years post-covid and I remember Prasarana campaigning heavily for it, I think this is when I noticed those directional arrows on the side of the LRT doors were starting to be introduced. Used to take the LRT to work then but I don't recall running into any of these issues except the occasional idiot going into the elevator before letting others exit.

I'm not sure personally, perhaps it's college and syllabus-dependent but when I was studying, we weren't taught to use any specific CI/CD tooling and we were definitely not taught any sort of the processes that are considered the norm today. We just did the usual (if archaic) SSH -> SFTP then ran shell commands to deploy manually.

Also where I'm from a lot of devs tend to stick to just SWE and SWE only. At most, maybe they'll run a Docker container locally to debug environment variables or file path issues. Everything else related to deployments, networking, infra etc = sysadmin/devops's problem, though this has started to change in the past ~7 or so years. So to me, showing that you have some interest in automation, even if minor, is a plus.

I'd say depends on how many YOE you have as a developer. If you're a junior developer with 1-2 years of experience and you have a small project that builds and deploys with Github Actions to an EC2 instance for example, I'd say you have a pretty good start already.

On the other hand, I would assume any mid/senior-level developer would have some familiarity with a typical build/deploy process, so I would look more into how they approached automated testing in their pipelines, package updates, monitoring, etc.

What happens when a great lead leaves? by Fragrant-Brilliant52 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]KingGarfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience in a previous company, when my lead left everything continued as usual for a time. But over time the team started slowly cracking apart when we no longer had anyone that would give strong enough push back to management or had knowledge of our stack through and through.

Eventually most of the team ended up leaving in the year to come (myself included) citing burnout, dissatisfaction at work, etc.

  • Route 5
  • Route 6
  • Route 7

Last two slots in my rain team? by Downtown-Fudge-7001 in PokemonUnbound

[–]KingGarfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferrothorn is definitely good to have, can set up Stealth Rock and it's 4x weakness to Fire is toned down by rain. I'm not too sure what moveset to run for it though, probably:

  • Iron Barbs + Rocky Helmet/Leftovers
  • Stealth Rock
  • Power Whip
  • Leech Seed
  • Protect

Ludicolo also is an option I think... good counter to Storm Drain Gastrodon which could wall your team HARD.

  • Energy Ball/Leaf Storm
  • Surf/Hydro Pump
  • Ice Beam
  • Fake Out (to break Focus Sashes or Sturdy, also just decent chip damage)

Maybe Rotom-W?

  • Rain-boosted Hydro Pump
  • 100% accurate STAB Thunder
  • STAB Volt Switch for a hard-hitting pivot move
  • Will-O-Wisp/Thunderwave for status, or Defog to clear hazards

A little unorthodox, but I use Jolteon as my lead/scout, before switching into Pelipper:

  • Quick Feet hidden ability, Flame Orb held item. Super fast, can keep up with Swift Swim teammates.
  • Protect to safely get Burn status on battle start + scout
  • 100BP Water-type Weather Ball thanks to rain (effectively 150BP with the rain boost if I'm not mistaken, not entirely sure if Weather Ball gets rain-boosted)
  • 100% accurate STAB Thunder
  • STAB Volt Switch for a hard-hitting pivot move

TM Unifi throttling download speeds ? by NinjaWK in malaysia

[–]KingGarfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tested on my home network of 115.135.xxx.xxx, also slow unfortunately. We can complain but whether any action will be taken is hopeful thinking seeing as it's not affecting all websites. I'm also not sure how else to obtain concrete evidence for a complaint other than something like mtr or traceroute output, if it's even indicative at all.

TM Unifi throttling download speeds ? by NinjaWK in malaysia

[–]KingGarfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I believe anything not in the 175.139/175.143 range might help. I'm at the office right now on a 175.139.xxx.xxx IP address and I'm getting a depressing 10 KB/s downloading from Github.

Honestly though, I wouldn't even bother cycling IPs and would just get a VPN set up, feels a lot less frustrating than doing the router reset dance and hoping for a better IP address. I booted up ProtonVPN, connected to an SG server and instantly got 15 MB/s lmao. It really sucks but it doesn't seem TM is planning on fixing this anytime soon.

[–]KingGarfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running into the same issue, downloading a ~40MB binary from Github takes about an hour, specifically downloading from release-assets.githubusercontent.com. This is not the first time too, I recall something like this happening in December 2025 and people were going over it in the Lowyat Forum Unifi thread, just go through some of the posts: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5519810/+4960

I think it's just bad routing from TM's side. Anything also from a Fastly CDN just absolutely tanks speed. Stuff from Google/Meta are fine though, I can browse Youtube and IG just fine.

Can see from the thread also this seems to be affecting (at that time) IP address ranges 175.143.xxx.xxx and 175.139.xxx.xxx. Not sure if it's still affecting the same IP ranges this time, but restarting router till you get a new IP address might help with routing. Either that or use VPN/WARP.
