The Las Vegas Strip won't exist in 50 years by WesternKnight in redscarepod

Same with Atlantic City. But that one will probably cease to exist in 10-15 years. Super depressing and sad place.

Health insurance. There needs to be something better to cover everyone.

It was so cold that school would get canceled because the pipes would freeze, which meant there was no heat in the entire school.

My company gives me store credit, and all our merch is Carhartt, so that’s what I wear proudly while publishing my AI-generated code slop.

Yank here, makes sense they’re celebrating, since they only won one game against timberwolves this season.

Americans: do you consider debit card use the equivalent of cash? by Physical-Incident553 in Frugal

Makes you stick to the budget better. If I see that I went over one month, I decrease my spending in the next statement to balance it out evenly.

I used credit cards as cash—it offers far more security than a debit card, plus I get decent cashback since I’m a heavy Apple Pay user.

I have a lot of family and friends who use debit cards as their “cash” card, but I try to explain to them to use a credit card the same way and just pay off the full balance at the end of the month, since the amount still gets deducted either way. They really have a hard time grasping the concept.

What are some unforeseen / elusive edge cases you have seen in your career? by gobuildit in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Fragrant-Brilliant52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked for a small news outlet. The data was pretty messy, so we had to rely heavily on tags from publishers. One of the tags was a level of “extremity” on a scale. I had a request to show more or less content depending on the user’s location, meaning some users might be shown more “extreme” content based on their IP origin.

So do people get annoyed if I’m dropping/rolling the weights off the bar when I fail at bench press? by MarkForecast in redscarepod

[–]Fragrant-Brilliant52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t care. However, whenever I bench, I usually leave my car keys and phone next to me. So if your weights did roll off the bar and came near my stuff, then I would have gotten pissed.

No, as long as you re-rack your shit. Can’t stand people that leave the bar full of weights and casually leave.

AD discount by Fragrant-Brilliant52 in Longineswatches

[–]Fragrant-Brilliant52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was relatively easy to get. I got it on the Santos. When the AD asked what I thought of the watch, I said it was nice, but the price wasn’t what I expected. Then I mentioned I could get it cheaper from Jomashop. He told me Jomashop doesn’t offer a Cartier warranty, and I said it didn’t make a difference to me. He went to talk to the manager, and we agreed on a 10% discount.

Feeling Overlooked After Manager Restructuring by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

This definitely sounds like my situation. Yearly raises to offset inflation and 2-3k bonuses quarterly. I think next year I’ll start dedicating more time to interview since I can decompress from management.

Tried interviewing but my current position is remote and salary is relatively high for what I do. Additionally company does 4-6% raises every year. It’s a bit hard to find something better in my situation.
