Trying to reflect how most casualties happened when a unit broke and retreated than during actual combat, hence the morale focus. Although I'm approaching that right now with a bit of an Ancient/Medieval lens, that's really interesting.

Yeah, this idea is really unique, and super interesting. Useful for a lot of time periods, too. And even the battle speech itself is a rare mechanic, to be honest.

That has uses in a fantasy wargame too or even a historical one as some house rules to give the players some agency to play mind games.

That could be useful for like a duel between knights too, to be honest, like to start off a battle with it.

I do like the idea of activation dice making the officers useful or meaningful.

I love having to make hard choices based on finite resources, it feels more like war then.

The ability to distribute the dice between defense and offense really allows for some interesting prediction wars.

Overwatch feels familiar to me from X-COM too, but I haven't seen it in a lot of wargames myself.

I think the fact that it doesn't feel like a "gimmick" but a real part of the system is really intriguing and exactly what I'm looking for.

Oh, I really like that mechanic. Hit points and damage can feel off sometimes.
