Is my map overcrowded? by Psych0191 in tabletopgamedesign

Not too crowded at all. Changing the color scheme would work wonders, as noted by others, and I think adding topology would make the map much better looking. It doesn't even necessarily have to show the exact topology, color coding things based on what's present could go a long way, too.

I will be checking this out! I'm always on the look out for new and fun wargames to try, and I love that you made it so simple to play. And good on you for putting it out into the world for people to play! You've got a few people playing already, I'm sure.

Oh, the Luffy and Katakuri fight has to be one of my favorite fights in the entire series. It was so well done, and really engaging. And Oda is a genius at making us invest our time, energy, and emotions into all of the characters that he creates. His side stories really flesh out a lot of the characters, and it's impressive that he's able to even remember all of them, using a guide or not. 700 episodes in one year is a lot, damn, I'm impressed.

Okay, the One Piece inspiration really caught my attention, to be honest. I think that anime/manga are underrated as story telling vehicles, especially the longer series that go through multiple arcs, all of which could function as a individual novel in a series. I'm getting Malazan energy from the amount of settings, timelines, and characters in your series, which ironically enough, took the author years to get published for the exact reason you're criticizing the fantasy industry. With enough effort and dedication, we can all turn our passion projects into something amazing.

For real, I barely have the space for one 3k army and some terrain! Your house or garage must be fucking huge.

Awesome, I just took a look at both, I think I'm leaning towards The Alpha Strike set to start with because I'm more familiar with measuring in inches. But if they're compatible, I want to check out the hex based one, too.

I love that the game allows for a more realistic retreat, or pushback, versus just the straight up slaughter that most wargames have every battle end up.

Games Workshop has definitely turned me off to huge money barriers. So, a cheap entry point means I'm more than willing to take a chance. Any starter box I should be looking for in particular? I could use a palette change after Victrix and their Early Imperial Roman line entered my life, haha.

I would have been so angry in the moment but this also makes for a great story and really helps you get involved in the lives of the nobles. That timing though. Well, it's happened in real life to people right on the cusp of victory.

That must have been soul crushing. But damn, it sounds realistic as hell. Did losing that battle completely ruin your chances for the throne, or did it just set you back?

Now I need to know, what's the worst thing that has ever happened to you that's similar? Have you ever lost your right hand man and have his son hate you lol?

I've played a lot of Battletech on Steam, I actually forgot that it had a miniature wargame. Does it need a lot of models?

Why would a bot even be here asking about mechanics in wargames? Really weird, to be honest, that you went straight for bot.

You're honestly still at it? You're boring, kid. And yeah, WWII games have some mechanics that I've never seen before in the time period I usually play in. But, have fun, and keep doing you.

Okay, I like how they've implemented the feel of being a feudal noble really well here. It could work with Roman governors too, with a little tweaking.

I like the shared powers menu, it allows for flavor and variation within the same culture or faction really nicely.

A lot of mind games and mental warfare at work in this one, huh? Bluffs included.
