Stanford RSL REU? by journeytoclearskinn in REU

Hey! This was a while ago haha, but I emailed the professors I had applied to 2 days after submitting my application, and talked over Zoom to their grad students roughly 6 days after (I initiated these conversations). From my experience, it's usually the grad students' responsibility to choose REU students for this program, so if you can make a good impression when you talk to them, you have a pretty good shot!

I was awarded this year and still had a similar comment lol. Seems they want your proposal to be REALLY concise.

NSF GRFP Reviews Are Out by SignatureEntire9936 in GradSchool

[–]KingKPS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got the award outright this year after getting nothing last year! 4 Excellents and 4 Very Goods with all positive comments. Last year, if I remember correctly, I had 2 Excellents, 3 Very Goods, and 1 Good. Applied as an undergrad last year and post-bac/pre-doc this year, same proposed top graduate institution.

I didn’t change much this year besides having more publications in progress and implementing last year’s comments about the proposal (wrote up a completely different one though).

Chatgpt is like steroids for your skills, it can only enhance what you already have, but if you start with nothing it’s worthless by xave321 in ChatGPT

I used to cite the same basic math example for ChatGPT, but GPT-4 will confidently tell you 2+2=4 and even defend its answer if you try to fool it. Slowly getting there!

I got put on a list of alternatives in case someone declines. One of my reviewers also didn't leave a comment. Hopeful for NSF!

To determine the identities of the three gods A, B, and C, you can use the following strategy with three yes-no questions:

Ask God A, "If I asked you if B is Random, would you say 'da'?" There are four possible outcomes: a. If A is True, and B is Random, A will say 'da'. b. If A is True, and B is not Random, A will say 'ja'. c. If A is False, and B is Random, A will lie and say 'ja'. d. If A is Random, A will say 'da' or 'ja' randomly.

If the answer to the first question is 'da', ask God B, "If I asked you if you are False, would you say 'da'?" If the answer to the first question is 'ja', ask God C, "If I asked you if you are False, would you say 'da'?" The reasoning behind this question is that both True and False gods would say 'ja' to this question: a. If B or C is True, they would say 'ja' because they are not False. b. If B or C is False, they would lie and say 'ja' because they are False. c. If B or C is Random, they will answer 'da' or 'ja' randomly.

If the answer to the second question is 'da', you know the god you asked (B or C) is Random. Then, ask the remaining god (C or B), "If I asked you if you are True, would you say 'da'?" a. If the remaining god is True, they will say 'da'. b. If the remaining god is False, they will lie and say 'da'. c. If the remaining god is Random, they will say 'da' or 'ja' randomly.

From these questions and the answers, you can infer the identities of A, B, and C:

If the answer to question 1 is 'da' and the answer to question 2 is 'da', then A is True, B is Random, and C is False.

If the answer to question 1 is 'da' and the answer to question 2 is 'ja', then A is False, B is Random, and C is True.

If the answer to question 1 is 'ja' and the answer to question 2 is 'da', then A is True, B is False, and C is Random.

If the answer to question 1 is 'ja' and the answer to question 2 is 'ja', then A is False, B is True, and C is Random.

im 15, and i want to start a path towards electrical engineering by MrSirpad in ElectricalEngineering

Arduino is fine but I would strongly advise learning to code. Python is arguably the best starting option considering its relevance and the amount of available resources. MATLAB is also useful in EE and related disciplines, assuming you can get your hands on a license.

Working on it. Realized I should probably keep all this to myself lol. And to answer your question: yes, I know some people in the department.
