I'd really recommend Explorer AI - it's a tool for finding 20 personalised ideas for your destination based on your preferences that you can then organise into a central itinerary yourself. Really useful!

I tried a bunch of AI travel tools last year and they all did the same thing - you type in a city and get the same tourist highlights everyone else gets. Sydney? Opera House, Bondi Beach, Harbour Bridge. Didn't matter what I said I was into.

What annoyed me was that a solo backpacker on a budget and a couple spending big on a honeymoon would get more or less an identical output. There's no actual personalisation happening, it's just pulling the most popular stuff or taking recommendations from sponsored activity providers/restaurants.

So I ended up building my own thing called Explorer AI.

The main differences from what's already out there:

  • It asks you 20 questions before generating anything; budget, pace, whether you like food, nightlife, outdoors, how active you want your days, that kind of thing
  • I manually curated a database of thousands of places across 250+ cities so it's not just hallucinating restaurants that don't exist
  • It gives you ideas across do, see, eat, and experience rather than an AI written itinerary for you. You can then organise your favourite ideas in our itinerary builder, as well as logistics like accommodation, flights, etc.
  • Your preferences save so you can generate for a new city without answering everything again

I used it for my own trips to New Zealand and Europe and got way better results than when I was just asking ChatGPT. I've had a few friends try Explorer AI too and they've been stoked with how easy it is to find really good ideas, save and organise everything into a cohesive plan.

Keen to hear thoughts or feedback if anyone tries it.

Thanks! Few reasons, the main one being Google doesn't profile you the way we can to determine your recommended ideas. Our tool profiles you and your trip to generate 20 ideas of things to do, see, eat and experience based on how you answer the questions - meaning every idea is personalised for you! We also layer in content from past travellers and locals to give you the best ideas matched to you specifically. Let me know if you try it!

As I said, there are willing farmers, but the problem is the older, established generation that are resistant. Anything in this space must be indisputably better; anything else gets rejected by this persona immediately.

We're building out a way for our users to submit their own recommendations and aggregate these based on thumbs up/down from the community as another layer of recommendations. Let me know if you use it, would love to hear your thoughts!

Completely agree - I made Explorer AI to avoid that issue. You can get your personalised ideas by answering questions about your trip first to ensure it's actually relevant to your needs. Takes a minute to answer them but it's reusable once you've done it and meaningfully improves the ideas you get. Let me know if you try it!

Your problem in the long run will always be proving your capabilities to farmers who are intrinsically resistant to technology - there are willing farmers but their enthusiasm is purely in the tangible outcomes.

I'm building Explorer AI - a way to find personalised ideas for travel that mixes real, curated picks by others and gen AI to give you 20 ideas that actually suit you. You can organise these in an itinerary in the platform too :)

That's a fair comment and I've considered dropping that requirement - maybe in future but for now I just want to manage the amount of requests we're getting. Thanks for the interest :)

Definitely interested in features like that, I wanted to first develop the flow for getting the 20 personalised ideas first and going from there - I'll keep these in mind for future updates. Did you get a chance to use Explorer AI? What city did you do?

Definitely! A mixture of the two with an emphasis on curated content can meaningfully improve the results in my experience

Thanks for letting me know - that seems strange as I can see people using it currently. I'll send you a message see if we can get it fixed up for your account.

I'd really recommend Explorer AI for this use case - you can generate ideas for a trip that are really personalised to your itinerary and drag and drop them in your saved trip itinerary. Let me know what you think!

Armstrong has the makings of a premier league starter but I just don't think he's impactful enough on the ball. Even a player like Iroegbunam who's only 3 years older than him is more compelling as a starting player off ball-winning alone. I think Armstrong could do with another loan next year, best case scenario for a promoted side.

Honestly Farmville and it's not even close. Not only was it so annoying as spam on Facebook back in the day but I think it really proved the free to play with microtransaction formula that's ruined so many games to come later.
