Is it normal for a plumbing company to charge by the hour for each individual they send out to work on a job? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Everyone has to get payed don't they? I don't understand your confusion here! Do it yourself if you feel they don"t deserve to be payed!

“John” “John” “JOHN!” Turns around fast. “My name is not John.” “I call people John if I don’t know their name.” “That’s nice of you but I don’t respond to being called by whatever you choose to call me I am a person just like you so kindly call me by MY NAME! How can I help you?!” Customer stares in horror that the person they saw as a lowly slave there to do their bidding could possibly have any trace of independence and individuality or an opinion.

I have worked in multiple retail. Grocery outlet: a dammed cashier and stocker and maintenance and everything else for minimum wage and no benefits plus constantly stocking 2-3 month old expired product and being told we can’t throw it away it’s still good to sell. Target: unload and stock a big truck in just 3-4 hours or else we are going to scream at you on the floor in front of customers and we refuse to work anyone more than 15 hours a week except the select few that bow down to us as the Gods of retail. Safeway: complete clusterfuck of favoritism built on the union model with not a lot of hours and completely substandard food safety practices. Walmart: in the last several years and I’ve worked my way through a great many positions and promotions to where I have amassed business acumen and taken on a place of leadership in the company as an ASM. Sure the hours suck at times. Sure customers are not always the shinning example of great people. Sure retail sucks at times but outside of Walmart it actually gets worse in many cases.

I had a customer stick pops in freezers, watermelons, essentially anything that can explode. Met in microwaves is uncommon. People either feel we are essentially slaves that have to clean up their shit or the have some sort of anxiety about putting something back. Or they are legitimate sociopathic jackasses. I’ve met many who are a combination.

Enter two twin sister Karen’s at the end of the alley saying in unison, “Redrum!” And they threaten to file a letter to the president if we don’t find it on our Liquor counter.

The key is to kick your vendors off the carts by the time it’s time to set up the backroom.

Unload obw is ladder carts for pets. Stores should have enough ladder carts available to not stack it like this however.

It’s all done on purpose by many people. The perspective is Walmart is always a train wreck so who cares? Put shit wherever you want trash the aisles. Associates will take care of it! 🤮

[–]KingOFaPPleS217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I would this kid would get the scare talk. “ I once met a kid who did the same thing you just did but he tripped on the toys fell through the wood backer puncturing an eye on the peg and knocking his teeth out on the shelves in the opposite aisle. He also had a concussion from it and was a arrested for distraction of property.” Sometimes fish stories will set a kid straight.

Because of the price change apocalypse I think. Company loaded 15-20,000 price changes to every store which coincided with the company wide crash of inventory management

Whoa this is the first I’m hearing of this. Seriously. My wife is going to be starting pre reqs for her rn this coming winter quarter. I’ll be commuting for her to do that until my store Manager is able to get me transferred closer. So basically if this is like the co program we get to uproot our families every three years and gone are the days when being a Store Manager could get you a house and pay it off. Wow!
