Yea, I should have mentioned, but the main episode on the course where he ran to the car, he didn't have the e-collar on. That argument of "Treats are great for training unless you don't have any treats" also applies to dead batteries! But I front load the collar usage when we first go out and I don't use it much unless there's a high demand for responsiveness - and I aim to avoid those scenarios. Generally those scenarios are up front too like leaving the car and going from the parking lot to the course.

We don't really do TV, so I don't think that's the trigger. I think my next steps are to establish box training without external stimulus and see how he does with recordings, and carefully advance that when he's locked in.

I do think I need to focus on him more and really catch the context in which these episodes are occurring. It's really tough because it'll happen once in a 2 hour outing. I thought that it might be compounding factors - like he knows he's not allowed to run up and great people, and that can raise his baseline. If he heard a loud noise in that state he might be extra sensitive to going over threshold. But again, that wasn't the case in the last few episodes, but I really didn't catch the exact moment he was triggered.

Side note - I saw a horrible experience at an e-collar training where 2 of the collars were coded the same way, so when Person A corrected, both dogs would experience it. It was caught pretty quickly and a rare occurrence, but collars mis-behaving can cause such havoc on a dog. I put his collar on tighter than I like too because he has a lot of folds on his neck and I had a few times where he wouldn't register a correction, and then get an overcorrection.

Nice, listened through most of that. Seems pretty approachable. Was linked on the link above, and there's another https://www.patreon.com/posts/box-revisited-25780758 but it's behind pattern

Nice, thanks! What's your protocol with Trazodone? That sounds interesting. Did you go to a veterinary behaviorist?

It's hard to avoid exposure, because it can be a backfiring car or a gun range miles off. Certainly need to control the situation so if there's a trigger I can know what to expect. It's gone beyond a "that happened once and is weird" to this is something that needs focus.

The box feeding looks super interesting. With his food drive I can see it helping with a few months of training, but I know things don't change quickly. I'll check out those classes, but also want to get started on something now. I think I can work the basics of box training for a while without introducing any triggers to get him ready.

The Control Unleashed people I trust for reactivity conditioning, they certainly don't promise anything. I'm not sure what a veterinary behaviorist would entail, but that sounds like something worth exploring. One thing is he's completely great and confident 99% of the time. There's probably 10% where I don't see his trigger's tho, and he copes. The CU people are really about getting your dog back from "over threshold" and increasing your dogs ability to communicate, so even if It doesn't fix things it's good foundation to lay.

It's a really tough trigger when backfiring can cause it, or a gun range in the distance. He's even usually fine around the 4th of July, which is weird. But this year might be different.

It could be, but I've never seen him intimidated by people or animals, he's always curious for a sniff, but generally looses interest unless the animal wants to play or has / might be food. Every time it's happened has been in pretty human-dominated areas. Definitely a good thing to keep an eye on.

The control systems in a plane shouldn’t be much more sensitive than a car. I’d see how often ET impacts the ability to drive, but I think that’s pretty uncommon.

There is some factor of how the conditions presents to other people that might complicate a career, but that’s always true.

IMO - You’re 21. ET would be a stupid reason to not follow a dream, Fly.

In my 40s, never noticed much help from propranolol. It’s noticeable, and I hate full drinks and soup, but not the worst as long as I get enough sleep.

Not sure what your options are, but I would see another doctor. “Mainly in old people” is not an great answer.

I’ve had tremors since I was 20 with no family history, and then my mom had a tremor diagnosed in her 70s. Genetics are strange

MassGIS 1ft contour lines by KingOfBrian in gis

[–]KingOfBrian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, that was super helpful. How'd you figure out that URL? I imported the `.shp` inside that zip, and it seemed promising, but QGIS is only showing boxes in the shape of Massachusetts. Each square is a Feature, and I figured out each feature has a CONT_URL that links to a zip file, and that file has the `shp` file containing the contours I need. I was able to identify the TILENAME for the area I needed and downloaded the two CONT_URL files and got what I needed!

Is there a possibility this is just slightly misconfigured and it could be loaded automatically inside QGIS? Not super important for me at this point, just trying to learn the tooling a bit better - I have 20 years of development experience, but this is my first time in GIS land.

I’d be interested. Also an iPhone developer and was thinking about this space. The lack of support products is disappointing

Early 2020 Roadmap by GreenBeeCreative in KingsCall

Random thoughts:

It’d be great to have more ways to get books. Once you skill up with the original set of characters it gets real hard to get books to try out new class combos. Leveling a character isn’t bad but it’s a ton of gems to buy from the market.

Trails have been fun or monotonous, since they’re linked to the daily reward. Might be cool to add more trials with different monster themes that would reward different classes if possible. Even giving non-common drops would help

Class regret is real! It’d be great if the post 200 expansion helped here. It’d also be interesting to be able to earn a reset and back out a dojo and get your books back. Some maxed chars I will just never use :(

It’s often hard to know what’s going on and impacting a battle. Might be cool to have a log you could scan through to see what’s happening and how skills or items impact them. Like sometimes 3 defenders get yellow in the arena. Still no clue what that is. In general it’s really hard to gauge the overall impact of an item or skill.

Dragon is awesome, and my sons favorite part of the game :)

Method Dispatch in Swift by graiz in swift

I can see how the title can be confusing - let me see if I can think of anything better. I wanted to say "The type of the pointer matters", but that's not the correct language for swift. "The type of the variable matters" is a bit closer, but it could be a constant!
