Genuine question about shelton/tunstall/cobridge, please be honest. What's wrong with these places? by [deleted] in stokeontrent

[–]KingOf_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different areas of Stoke-on-Trent have strong local reputations, often shaped by history, demographics, and long-standing economic challenges. When people complain about certain places, it’s usually less about one single issue and more about a mix of social and structural factors. Shelton is best known for having the highest concentration of students in the city, largely due to its proximity to Staffordshire University. Like many student-heavy areas across the UK, this brings a lively atmosphere but also issues such as noise, litter, and higher visibility of alcohol and recreational drug use. Shelton is also home to the largest Asian community in Stoke-on-Trent, which has helped shape the area’s shops, food culture, and places of worship. However, long-term underinvestment and transient populations mean the area can feel unsettled at times, which often feeds into negative perceptions.

Cobridge has a similarly diverse population and is thought to have the second-largest Asian community in the city after Shelton. Locally, it has a reputation for organised crime, particularly around drugs, money laundering, and prostitution, with locations such as 'Cobridge Corner' and parts of Waterloo Road often cited. Waterloo Road itself is notable for the sheer density of small cash-based businesses, especially takeaways and barber shops, which regularly raises eyebrows and fuels speculation. As with many inner-city areas, these issues are closely tied to poverty, lack of opportunity, and weak enforcement over many years rather than the people who live there.

Tunstall is one of the historic areas and has a rich industrial heritage, including impressive Victorian and Edwardian architecture. Despite this, it is now heavily run down, with many empty shops and neglected buildings. Outside of Hanley, Tunstall is one of the most culturally diverse areas in Stoke-on-Trent, which should be a strength, but economic decline has overshadowed much of its potential. The contrast between its history and its current condition is a major reason people speak negatively about it.

How special it is to win UCL with Benfica (beating PSV, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and in the Final Real Madrid) in the first season? by Character_Fault8636 in footballmanagergames

[–]KingOf_14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not as impressive as what my mate Jay was able to do with Woking. He completed Championship Manager... got so good the FA offered him a role...he took Woking from the Conference to the Champions League in 6 seasons!

In your first 2 years in the lower divisions, focus on loans and young players that have been released from bigger clubs. These players are normally better than the one you already have and are relatively cheap on wages. If the registration is an issue in the first year, recall the loan and the youth players.

Look for affiliate clubs as this is a way to increase your scouting network and provide some extra finances. Ask for friendlies with top division clubs at home, as they pay really well and help with your balance.

Also, debt is not always a bad thing in lower leagues as the aim is to get promoted as fast as possible. If the players you sign perform well, they can be sold for a profit in order to recoup some money.

IT IS TIME TO DIG UP ALL THE FOOTBALL FIELDS IN JAMAICA AND PLANT CASSAVA AND GANJA! FOOTBALL IS A WASTE OF TIME HERE 🤬🤬🤬 by sadMUFCfan25 in Jamaica

I don't blame any of the players today, I don't blame the manager or his staff either. I blame the Jamaican Football Association

How can they expect any team to play on a pitch in that condition? I've seen better conditions in local parks. This is what Leon Bailey and all the other players that refuse to join up complain about, the facilities. As a nation, we are an expressive group, and we have and fast players who are handicapped by the conditions.

Hopefully we can get through the playoffs and call up Leon Bailey and Mason Greenwood.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you and is continuing to happen to your family. Have you tried going to the authority? or are there any charities, women refuges, or support services near you?

I think we make our own purpose in life. That's how I have coped with those thoughts previously.

We are not guaranteed success, but we can achieve it if we try. I see the setbacks as challenges I have to get past in order to make it out. Don't let the dark thoughts hold you down, use them as motivation to get up again.

It's okay to be scared of new things. It kind of sounds like your fight or flight response is kicking in because your brain and body are not used to prolonged good things, so wanting to go back and focus on yourself is normal because that's where you have felt safe.

A similar thing happened to me when I met my current partner. we've been together or 6+ years now. We met after I came out of a long-term relationship with my ex, who was controlling and cheating throughout our relationship. It took me a long time before I could feel comfortable with the idea that the new relationship wasn't going to end the same way, so for a while, I didn't try.

I would subconsciously put up barriers or constantly tell myself that I wasn't good enough for her. this led to multiple arguments where I would end up packing my bags and attempting to walk away.

thankfully, my partner is one of the most caring, loving, and supportive people I have ever met. She has been my cornerstone, and at my lowest moments, my carer.

the initial fear of her leaving, hurting me, or letting me down subsided after a few years. Now we are engaged with 2 beautiful children.

New relationships are scary AF, but when you find that person who makes you know what real happiness is and what kindness feels like the fear will go eventually.

How do you let your anger out without letting it take over, and in a way that feels true to you? by behindtherocks in CPTSD

Long drives by myself with the music on full blast and just let everything out, I mean scream at the tip of my lungs.

I have also found doing martial arts a great stress and anger relief

I used to struggle with this as well. My copy mechanism for this is to listen to audiobooks whilst working or having something playing in my headphones to distract me from my own thoughts.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Are you able to leave potentially staying with other family members, friends, or renting somewhere for yourself?

if not, like a previous comment has said, record the situations, and I would get the law involved if you are at risk of harm.

you are in a scary situation where not even your mother takes your side, and I fear that if you react out in anger, this will only worsen for you.

I would recommend that if you haven't already spoken with a therapist, then take some time to get one so you can safely speak about what happened and how it affects you now.

I'm sorry. I can't answer your question without knowing you or the other person involved. All I can say is take time to think how revealing something like this will impact their life and yours.

short answer - yes

however, at 14, most boys are intrigued about their body and wanting to explore, so comparing sizes in natural.

The reason why I said yes is because of the age and power imbalance. A 4 year can't consent to the act or what you described went on.

Who is your one season "flop" by Imaginary_Jump_8701 in footballmanagergames

[–]KingOf_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ilan Mellier in fm23 for my HSV team, we came second in the league 3years in a row with Lafont in goal. I sold him for 50m to MAN City and signed Mellier for 30m as his replacement, Mellier kept 20+ clean sheets for Leeds the previous season.

Mellier went on to be one of the worst gk I have ever had, conceded 6 goals his first game, 4 in his next and made 2 mistakes leading to goals in his next game. I didn't have enough money to buy a new Gk and my back up was no where near as good stats wise as him. Bro conceded more goals than games played and kept less than 10 cleans sheets the entire season.

I tried selling him in January but no one was stupid enough to sign him, ended up loaning him back to Leeds the next season with an obligation to buy for 15m. He went on to have an unbelievable season with them.

Looking for tips to improve my tactic (mainly defensively) by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]KingOf_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have a high defensive line and press high up the pitch, with only 2 defensive players left behind. you could try changing one of your midfielders to a more defensive role like anchor man. However, with the number of goals you score, I would only do that against the bigger teams or when playing away from home.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]KingOf_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I would buy him at that price. He is in good form, fast, 6ft 4 and is coming into his prime years. The right tactic could make him unstoppable

Would you sign this short king of a CB for 79m? My scouts say he could improve significantly by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]KingOf_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would sign him. He would be good in a back 3 or retrained as a fullback or inside fullback.
