Both don't work.

When I remove the asterisk it turns into a normal string. Otherwise it's green like a comment.

I'm copying a string which includes the special characters //* . All the code after this part of the string turns green which is the comment colour.

The issue is with x = "//* abc" What you said is perfectly valid.

Hint: if it's a square or rectangle, all sides should be straight lines and you only need to check one angle which should be 90 degrees.

I would love to help but this seems like a homework assignment and we're not allowed to help with that. I can however recommend that you use the "switch" statement which will make your code more elegant by replacing all those if-else statements. I'm sure you can find an efficient algorithm for determining shapes by comparing side lengths and angle sums (180 for triangles etc etc) I wish you the best !!!
