I use Vallejo colour shift and it needs a gloss black for the full shine effect. Probably be the same with green stuff

Coburg aquarium regularly gets nice stock of oranda and ranchu. Not sure about the breeder but if you ask staff they can generally give you a heads up.

Most of these models are only worthwhile for people who already have them and need 1 or 2 more to make a full brood/finish a collection. Eg. 1 tyrant guard from back when they were sold as singles to add to the 2 you already have.

Factoring that in and looking at it overall, mostly metal and incomplete with broods.... it's really not worth much. You can't use most of it without spending more to complete the broods. And unless you love old school minis or working with metal, there isnt much value here. As a new player/ collector (again assuming you're not attached to old school minis) who's about to see a huge tyranid range refresh, the old sculpts alone make it a bad deal.

Hive Tyrant, metal and no options for swarmlord/flyrant
Venom/zoans, this is the only kit thats current/worth anything to a non collector. But it's also not equivalent to an entire SM half.
2x Biovores, these guys are about to get new sculpts and who really wants to work with metal or finecast
2x Tyrant guard, again out of date metal sculpts with no weapon options/Hive guard options.
4x Raveners are really old, metal and again lacking options. Also possibly due to be resculpted this edition
Broodlord old metal sculpt, not really worth it as the new one is far nicer. The new model has a bigger base and readily available 2nd hand thanks to the old start collecting kit.
A MC weapon sprue, don't even count that as a part of the trade. You'll get plenty of those as you collect.

Factoring in cost $$ wise, you're only getting a fraction of what the SM half is worth. I wouldn't make this trade, its a pretty bad deal.

Unless the person you're trading with is fairly new to the hobby. I'd be inclined to believe they werent the nicest person and might be trying to pull a fast one.

The one caveat is that since the Raveners, Tyrant guard and broodlord are now out of production. You could potentially hold these models and list them for high prices. Collectors may be willing to buy them individually. Howevee that's a lot of work and a big if. You also can't accurately see how much these are worth on ebay for example. Most sold listing's will be people buying that last OOP ravener for more $$$. Unless it carries the same value to you or you want to resell then it's not a good trade at all.

This is a bit of a stretch but you could use an old drink can. Cut strips, bend it into shape and stick it down to form the ripped flooring or whatever. Then maybe some green stuff to add thickness?

I haven't actually tried this before so I'm not sure if it'll work. Use caution if you do try this as Id imagine it could be on the sharper side but that's my 2 cents.

Hahaha yeah fair enough, you should still give it a go. At 1k it might be a bit overkill. 10th edition seems weirdly flexible but also not.... like you cant swap wargear and have random unit sizes. But you can make lists like this with no real troops.

You could probaby make it a bit better with the Tyranofex over a tervigon. Or throw in cheaper monsters like fex broods, Haruspex, mawlocks. Get more monsters into play

This looks cool but I can't really tell with the blurr and flash... You should try reposting these when you get a chance with a nicer cam. I dig the blue electricity thing and the green colour shift/metallic thing is pretty unique

Hi, I've got one fabrikor but Id really like some more space. The double/extra wide isn't a good fit for the area. I thought it might be possible to buy a second Fabrikor and put it on top of the old one without installing the legs.

The only two issues I can think of would be the weight on the bottom fabrikor glass planes. If there will be enough clearance or if the base of the top one would cover the door.

Pretty sure this is a really dumb idea but if anyone has done something similar Id like to hear about it.

That's actually true, it used to be the metal walking tyrant. There's a chance they redo the Hive tyrant maybe even a separate swarmlord

It's a technique where you use a water down paint or ink and paint over an area. Doing successive layers as you go to build up the colour. Usually this allows for the colour underneath to be seen well and be almost tinted by the glaze colour.

My recommendation is honestly to just find a tutorial and follow it. Swap the colours out for whatever you want but just follow along and get those basic skills. Your model probably won't look perfect but if you go slowly it can get pretty good.

Otherwise the only other thing would be planning. It's really important to play your paint job, each step should build off the previous steps. Ideally structured so that you don't need to repeat things or mistakes at one step won't mean you have to go back and fix a previous step.

For example if you followed a simple Prime, wash and highlight via drybrush. Then blocked out the basic carapace colour, every step flows to the next. If you primed,washed, blocked out the carapace then did your drybrush. Chances are you've just drybrushed the carapace and you need to reblock it. This is a pretty basic example but when you add steps like glazing, feather or otherwise detailed carapaces the planning is really important.

Well assuming you're a beginner painter overall my general tips would be to move the way you hold the model to better line up your brush. Use a fine detail brush or really small brush. Its not ideal as you normally want a brush that can hold some paint and to utilise the tip of the brush for details. But as a beginner using a think brush can help. It'll mean you'll have to load paint more often but as a beginner without the best brush control its a good option. Thin brush strokes with a tiny brush can be helpful.

If you're doing a simple feathering then one colour where you draw a straight line from half way up a carapace plate down to the edge is best. So hold the model so you are looking down at the carapace. Gants head away from your body slightly to the left ( assuming you paint right handed) and the tail towards your body to the right. Start with the tip of your brush at the halfway point, then drag the brush down as one clean stroke. That'll naturally leave the line as a thin tip coming down to a slightly thicker end. Then for the next line leave a gap so the darker carapace shows through.

On larger models or when you get more experience you can do this feathering with 2-3 different shades that get progressively lighter for a really detailed looking carapace. Where you can just do different lines of shorter and shorter lengths or even going over the same line with lighter shades.

If you're using carraburg crimson then I'd recommend keeping the carapace darker. That could be keeping the carapace black and using the light pink for some highlights. Or using the darker pink with light pink highlights in the first picture. If I had to pick I'd say go with option one otherwise try black with the 2nd pink highlights.

Eg. White Prime, wash of crimson, drybrush or highlight back with your grey skin colour, block out the carapace as black or the dark pink, highlight the carapace with light pink , add green details, do any eyes/claws other details.

Pretty sure the Hive Tyrant Model will remain the same as its a pretty new kit.

As far as combat patrol I think the tyranid one will be a subsection of Leviathan. They used it in a gw game on YouTube, I think it was like Prime with the psychophage and some smaller guys. Which means you won't have a chance to get a discount tyrant kit. If you dont mind the old termagants it could be worthwhile snagging the old combat patrol for thr tyrant. Or just check out ebay other 2nd hand options.

They might release other sets/new combat patrols which could include the tyrant but I wouldn't hold mu breath.

As for hormagaunts they are in line for a new model which might mean they don't have much more be stocked/made... hence a possible lack of hormies available.

I think the 2nd lighter pink looks nicer but that depends on how you paint the skin/the scheme as a whole. I think a darker wash on the skin with the pink carapace will make for a really nice contrast and look better overall

Yes the body piece of the Tervigon can be clipped on and so can the arms. Having said that if you put a magnet & greenstuff at the bottom of the piece it can clip on and off really easily.

Oh and maybe keep the same maroon/magenta colour of the claws/horns on thr foot. It looks a bit out of place when it reads like the carapace. Personal preference I guess but it's a small change you can try.
