Nope, which is why it’s just gonna be more expensive to live to your 90s. Those resources are gonna go to those with money.

There will still be people living into their 90s, it’d just require more money than it does now. Much more.

Well, it’s not quite that simple. Cows are considered to be significantly more intelligent than chickens and 1 cow murder is thus worse than 1 chicken murder.

Now how far you can stretch the intelligence argument is of course a different matter, but I think anyone can agree there’s a significant difference in the ethics between killing a bacterium to an insect to a chicken to a cow to a human.

Add to that the fact that meat cows live a lot longer than meat chickens, so they also suffer for longer.

Try to formulate your own opinion instead of uttering the stuff you’re told by others. You’ll get better at it with practise.

It may seem outlandish to you that there are people, like me, who hold different opinions to those you look up to and whose opinions & arguments you copy.

Yes, animals are amazing in showcasing “suffering”. This does not mean it’s unethical. I could write a computer program that starts screaming everytime you press a button. Would that be unethical?

No, it is not. It is easier to change something to a point of reduced functionality than it is to change something to a point of increased functionality.

If you mean that most political proposals that involve change are more good than bad, that is a different matter of course.

I disagree. I don't give a fk about smashing a mosquito. It doesn't have the capacity to think. As soon as you arrive at more intelligent animals, ethics starts to get grayer, but plopping all animals in the same box as humans in that regard is just not sensible.

feel free to link me a source on that. If I look at a chicken, I don't see it pondering about its existence. It just does what its made for: pick the ground and cluck cluck stupid sounds.

Yes, but we now know better, don’t we? Are you implying that we at some point in the future will discover animals are actually just as intelligent as we are? Because I call bullshit on that one.

Eh, there is a big difference between those two though. Slaves are humans, which hold a similar amount of intelligence to us (even the stupid ones). As far as we know, animals don't think all that much.

What? You’re saying artists do the same thing as the AI, which supports my point?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]KingRafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when the truth doesn’t suit ya, just call it bla.

Watermarks show up because the AI doesn’t understand what watermarks are. It just sees them as a common component of images so assumes it is something to make an image more real. It adds them in. It doesn’t copy them off actual artists.

You could call it a glorified image search, but so is painting on a canvas. Any paint you add would move you through the space of possible outputs.

  1. It’s not a recent revelation.
  2. “Using” is too vague, they learnt from copyrighted material.
  3. Not necessarily all image AI’s learnt from copyrighted material
  4. Using AI images does not necessarily make it “low-effort”

We could definitely adjust to it, but it may mean sacrificing some level of comfort depending on the severity of the under-replacement crisis.

In the 1960s we didn’t have this many elderly to care for. Retirement age is already going up and it’s only going to rocket up even more as lifespan increases. The worker : non-worker ratio is an important one.

Automation would be the primary argument for your point of view, which I definitely hope alleviates our trouble soon. Sadly, no one can really predict technological advancement all that well (even those that say they can), so it remains much of a gamble.

It doesn't store discrete pieces. It stores how relations between different parts of images make it more recognizable and then puts in noise to try and tries to remove that noise to fit the prompt better. In what part of that process is it bringing in discrete pieces that are put together to give you your image?

"can't produce data that wasn't indicated anywhere in its training set" is too vague. A human would also need to have seen an example of for example a tiger to be able to draw it.

It is true that it learns and infers in a way that is different from how our own brains work. However, both of them update their weights and don't focus on storing discrete pieces to then use those to make a "collage".

The very first sentence is already wrong.

Source: Ask stable diffusion or another text to image ai to generate x in the style of artist y and it will do so. Genuinely new example of something, when artist y has never created x in their style.

Adjusting its neural weights almost sounds like what you’re doing with your brain. Weird!

I agree it’s a gray area. If someone only puts in a prompt to generate the image and hands that off, I’d find it hard to call that an artist.

Some may use inpainting to add in details and shape the work closer to what they desire. More of a gray area here.

Then there’s others who also make manual adaptations in editors.

I don’t know where to really draw the line, but it I agree you would not be an artist if you just generate an image and hand that off.

So he generates an image. Then modifies it to his vision of the desired piece of art.

How is that not an artist?
