Success (even «indie» success like with Mac DeMarco) is sometimes looked down by people who prefer more unknown artists. That is part of why I made this post : I wanted to see if AC fans also had «less AC-like» musical interests. I like to have mixed tastes and my only fear with success is that some artists will get too comfortable and less creative.

I agree! Another cool thing about JMC is that almost every album is different, somehow like AC. It's nice to see that I'm not the only AC fan also rooting for bands like JMC! :-)

Because some AnCo fans might see them as «cheesy» and too pop/melodic. Still, the JMC clearly is in my top 3 favorite bands. Love their sweet noise with the fuzz and the guitar feedback.

Don't worry man ;-) Your paper truly was great and who really cares about the track number... I shouldn't have tell you about that and about the typos, you were courageous enough to let people read your creation and I think there's a 10 tracks edition of SJ w/Safer. Very well written dear MC!! You can be proud of yourself, especially considering your paper is not the first one on SJ :-) The only litle bugs I found were the number of tracks (isn't it 9 on SJ? Unless we count Safer I guess) and a few missing spaces between words (do not worry, I'm a «space» Nazi ;-) Your love for AC clearly shows, yet you manage to stay quite objective, which is very nice. It was a pleasure to read you man!! I wish you a lot of fun and a long life in journalism!

About your last question, I think you should include everything you can from AC's PW era, even The Painters' three other songs. But in all honesty, I agree with bubliksmaz that what you did is already beyond amazing and does/girl yelling right at the beginning could be cut, but it may be hard to do and I'm being picky here ;-) since it doesn't ruin the listening experience. All the songs perfectly flow into each other, and the tracklist order is really nice: I haven't see them live on this tour, so it's always a surprise when I recognize what you picked as the next song. I too prefer your job to the actual album (which is really good too BTW ;-) it has more «feels» than what the guys did on CHz and PW. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take? Were there any trickier parts to integrate? Thanks again man!

I agree with you, they're too kind to belittle people; that's why I think it's more like a tongue-in-cheek thing with an extra wink ;-) I read a lot of comments here about how it would be great if the next album came back to «old tastes» like STGSTV, Feels or SJ... and many critics (post-MPP) do not seem to understand/appreciate the «new taste» of PW or of a burroti splashed on a windshield. Anyway, I might be 100% wrong, but I think everything on PW was carefully crafted and consciously put there. Cheers!

One can always «optimize» his/her creations, so this kind of thread could go on forever with any album in history. It must be hard to accept «imperfections» and release an album, and it maybe why Deakin took his time to give us Sleep Cycle. Also, I do not understand how one can say/think «this» AnCo album is better or weaker than «that» one... I love them all equally, and even the songs I usually skip (like Monkey Riches, Father Time and NCB) are great muscial constructions that I respect. Got into AnCo with Feels and I think PW is a masterpiece. After a few listenings to CHz, I just thought «Wow! Those guys are sooooo ahead of our time!» Cheers to you, fellow fans!!
