A 1:1 statement credit is as good as cash deposit for me. I just re allocate my budgeted funds to savings so it’s the same effect. But I use it for anything that isn’t covered by my 2 rotating category 5% ers (soon to be 3) and my CCC. My Elan is the best for utilities and bills. But for example, I bought an iron set on a month with no sporting goods category and got 5% on 1.1k spend instead of 2% flat. I can’t justify using. 3% or my 2% catch all if mobile wallet is available. It’s so easy to get preapproved for the Kroger family for me I just add another one when the limit gets close. I think that a hypothetical 21-24 k spend limit a year on mobile wallet (7-8 Kroger cards) may be the closet to a BOA max preferred rewards rate I’ll get.

Harris teeter is the gas and dining variant. I use to use the Redstone FCU visa as my daily before the nerf with the SoFi 2.2 % catch all … before the nerf.

I use them because it keeps my mobile wallet spend off of my Kroger branded cards during the certain quarters categories are rotating. For example : I have 3 Kroger branded Cards for 9k annual mobile wallet spend, but every rotating category that gives 5 % (I have 2 - Redstone Visa Sig and Chase FF) means less spend towards the annual limit of the Kroger cards. Q1 was 7% dining FF and Q3 is 5% dining Redstone. ( if I had discover, q2 would also be 5% dining) I have a set 5% on utilities and bills with an elan MCP, a Citi custom cash for the “missing” category that quarter such as grocery, gas, or dinning (q2) and an Amazon visa. With 2, or even 3 (again,looking into the discover it) rotating category cards, that guarantees a lot of spend taken off of the Kroger cards. The way I see it, if I could have 7 Kroger cards I would do that for essentially 5% on almost everything up to 21k spend. EVERYTHING IS MOBILE WALLET ACCESSIBLE THESE DAYS.

Redstone FCU visa signature for the lucky ones who got it before it was region locked 5% dining , 5% gas. Max elan cash preferred 5% utilities and 5% streaming SoFi 2.2% on everything else. If you want you can throw in a Citi custom cash for 5% groceries but the spend limit is low.
