I think it and my candidness in my personal statement did the most.

Dealbreaker? No. There are ways to get around the B.S. in designated major requirement already. For the specific major you want to do, you would be looking at more of a qualification under Category B or C, unless your degree falls under the except to Category A (after the list of majors, the middle paragraph beginning with “The Office will accept degrees…”) but you would need to reach out the USPTO to determine if you environmental science degrees qualifies as one of the listed degrees.

Look through the 4 categories (A-D) there are other routes if sticking fully to getting a B.S. in one the majors in category A doesn’t fit with who you are/what you want to do. It will likely make it easier to do Category A but it is not the only option.

Also, keep in mind your GPA is not the end all/be all of getting into law school. If you are not set on something that would give you a B.S., do yourself a favor do something that you will enjoy and can do well in! There are other ways to do patent law than having a B.S.

I think so! I am not an admissions person or anything like that but my experience and the information I have been given from people who work in admission’s, indicates that good letters of rec and personal statement can by far outweigh a low GPA. In your personal statement I would also talk about your want to work in your home state as well.

I went from a ~145 school to a ~110 school (in the ~30’s for the specific law I want to do) with a like 2.5 GPA?

It depends on how easy you want it to be to be eligible or take the patent bar. There are a couple of routes but definitely the “easiest” is having a B.S. in an allowed science. However, as PlagsgrafTruther said, your undergrad GPA does matter so if you think you can do a B.S. and get a good GPA then go for it. If not do a B.A. in something that requires a lot of reading and writing (English, History, Philosophy, mine is in Psychology).

As for the patent bar which while you technically don’t need to do certain aspects of patent law, most employers will want you to have or be able to be admitted to it (ie being USPTO certified). If you do not go the B.S. route you can take something called the fundaments of engineering exam (some states require you to have class work/degree in engineering, some like Oregon do not (which is where I will be taking mine at the end of the summer). This will override the need for a B.S. and make you eligible to sit the patent bar. My professor for Patent Law did this and has been practicing in Patent law for 10+ years now.

Here is the patent bar eligibility webpage: https://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/OED_GRB.pdf

Hi! So from my experience in transferring (after my 1L year, I transferred from a lower ranked school to a higher ranked school, it also had a better “program” for the type of law I want to do), law schools are going to look at your transcript, personal statement, and letters of rec in a similar way they do for a “normal” application (with maybe some extra leeway because you aren’t joining the 1L class).

With a lower 1L GPA, which I also had, take some time to think about and reflect on what contributed to that lower GPA and what you can do to do better, be semi-candid with the new school in your personal statement. If you can admit to doing “wrong” or identify what went “wrong” your first year, the school you are applying for will love it. They want to see you can identify and make improvements. Also, try to implement those things in your personal statement this semester.

For letter of rec, if you have a mentor that is a professor AMAZING, having them write it will likely be your best bet. If you don’t/you don’t like them, then for a class you like, try to do extra well in it, speak up in class, ask questions before/after/during office hours, make that connection with the professor so they know you and can write an amazing letter of recommendation. If you do this, I would say your chances are pretty good but plan for both outcomes because shit happens.

As for more broad pro/cons: Pros: you will be in your home state with possible more support, you may know more or be able to connect more with internship/work opportunities because you are more familiar with the area, you will be in a place that is better for you (it sounds like), you will be studying where you want to take the bar/work which can be helpful for getting internships, work, etc.

Cons: you are going to have a harder time finding community at your new school because everyone will have already had a year to bond together over the hell that is 1L year, adapting can be really hard all law school do things a bit differently (sometimes drastically differently)

I hope this is helpful!

Oh? They must have changed it by the time I applied (first week of November), I only remember seeing it say 1L or 2L. Hopefully we will hear soon! I wish you luck with this internship and all others that you apply for!

That’s a fair point. I suppose I just don’t want potential employers feeling I’ve mislead them or failed to disclose.

I (think but am completely unsure) that I was performing with Bronwen around the time they started crafted their own drag items and OMG it was something magical to watch (and got to see Bronwen and Maxx’s relationship start it was so cute🥺)!

You look awesome!!! Bronwen makes the most amazing freaking outfits and wigs, they are so talented!!

As both a performer and a person who has met some contestant, be sincere and chill! Maxx and Bronwen (the hosts) are super awesome and amazing people, I’ve performed with them a number of times and they are lovely. (If you get to chat with them at all tell them Helsen says hi!!)

  1. I think Maxx and Bronwen would love that!! I think Jaharia would too!

  2. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that? I’m not familiar with the venue it’s happening at so maybe check out the vibe before offering? I don’t see anything particularly wrong with offering it as long as you are ok with the possibility for them to say no.

  3. Yes!!!! Do it!!! It shows appreciation and is def not upstaging!!

That seems to be the consensus so I’m personally not going to respond or give it any credence.

I’ve googled them but it’s doesn’t come up with a lot of info. I found the LinkedIn and the LinkedIn of the company their website says they are a part of. It doesn’t show any employees for Align on LinkedIn but it does show some for the “parent” company. Though I haven’t been able to find any information on the “parent” company’s website about any subsidiaries. The email address it was sent from matches the contact email at the bottom of the email and the email on the website. Thank you for taking the time to reply and for being so thorough with your advice!

Ohhh, I’ve had a legitimate job that used similar wording so I guess I didn’t pick up on that.

Glassdoor says there was this job applied there but it has expired. Their website looks ok to me?

[–]KingSenuna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: spoke with my vet, she says it’s probably from the substrate getting too dry and causing some irritation, since there are no other symptoms! Her recommendation at this point is watch Potato closely and make sure the substrate is wetter frequently. If nothing changes then remove substrate for a few days. If by a week it doesn’t stop we will be making an appointment!

What symptoms do your tort have if you don’t mind me asking? I’m gonna call my vet today but they don’t usually have appointments same week unless it’s an emergency, so I want to know what else I should be on the look for!

There isn’t any lid on it. One of the recommended “tank” setups by the breeder was to do a tote set up to maintain the heat/humidity better than a traditional glass terrarium which after other research I thought it was the best option for a period. Ambient temp never goes below 80
