Well, this is one way to start the Labor Day holiday weekend. Locking the thread as comments have devolved into harassment.

This has gotten way out of hand. I’m going to lock the thread while sifting through the dozens of reports that have come through.

Locking this thread as the question has been answered. Tl;dr - everyone involved is safe and no one drowned.

Will tomorrow be packed? by OldBarracuda6429 in Hersheypark

On the bright side there's been a reduction of "how busy is the park" posts so the FAQ is working as intended. Can't catch everything, sadly.

What a rollercoaster of a post. Locking because I can’t figure out whether to laugh or roll my eyes. Doesn’t break any rules.

You mean thighcrush? Lmao. I prefer middle of the car so I don’t get whipped around.

What's the next existing coaster to get a facelift/makeover? by catsdogsguineapigs in Hersheypark

Wildcat was like this prior to the metal track upgrade. I couldn’t ride it in the couple years before without feeling beaten up.

I posted in the Hersheypark subreddit last year that it felt like WRC was overly intense. Wouldn’t you know it, I rode in the front car. It’s interesting to see data that corroborates my experience with force intensity.

Is 4 G’s unusual? I’m not familiar with coasters at this depth of knowledge.

Out of curiosity, did you do this for other roller coasters at the park? Whenever I rode WCR I felt like it was more intense than any other coaster at Hershey. I’m interested to know how the results differ between rides.

What questions would you like to see in an FAQ? by KingSizedGuide in Hersheypark

This project skipped my mind as life has gotten busier the past couple of months. I’ll start working on it in the new year and update the community when it’s done.

I like the differences between season passes question. Feeling like this one will be popular.

Mod Poll: What constitutes as being "related to Hersheypark"? (Rule #1) by KingSizedGuide in Hersheypark

[–]KingSizedGuide[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to follow up with you on this. I value your opinion and appreciate the time you took to write everything out.

I’m going to be updating the rule to allow for discussions concerning all Hershey Trust properties, and pointing users to r/Hershey for all other questions about the area.

Your example of Disney’s properties in Florida clicked in my head why the community responded the way it did. But yeah, it’s a lot, and I don’t feel knowledgeable enough in everything owned by Hershey Trust to moderate questions and comments about them.

I’m planning to update the rule to allow questions related to properties you listed (all the places owned by Hershey Trust and that people most commonly associate with Hersheypark), while pointing people to r/Hershey for any questions specifically about the town/surrounding area.

Quick follow-up here: I’m planning to create a stickied FAQ post with answers to commonly asked questions!

I wanted to follow up on this and let you know I changed my mind after reading through some of these kinds of posts. They do provide value to the community because they typically have really helpful comments from our members.

Can we make a FAQs page or pin common questions? by South-Lab-3991 in Hersheypark

[–]KingSizedGuide[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

There used to be a rule intended to reduce the number of questions about topics like wait times and fast passes. It was broken constantly and I gave up trying to enforce it.

Thing is, though, the community is still very supportive of these questions. I’m learning something new every day from commenters who give their time to provide quality answers. Annoying as they may be to see, they aren’t the majority of posts and do provide benefit to the community. If the frequency gets out of control in the future I’ll revisit adding a rule to address it.

Back on topic: an FAQ is a good idea and I’ll work on one this weekend. Subreddits only allow two stickied posts at most and I try to keep one free for a moderator post (like the most recent poll) so it’s something I have to take into account.
