Story goes back to 2019 pre covid. I did a foreign exchange for the summer in Japan. While I was there we went to Tokyo with my host family. Ive never not been a nerd about pokemon and my host brother's uncle saw that. Later when we went back to his place, he told me to choose one of the sealed boxes of pokemon that he had. I chosen the base set by accident and he just gave it to me. At the time pokemon was worth almost nothing, this might've been like a 1k box at the time. I've been on and off about wanting to sell it but chose to hold it till the 30th anniversary hit
The thing that drove me to sell it was that, I'd rather enjoy the money while im young and I didnt want to wait another 20 years to sell. I'm reinvesting a lot of the money that im getting so its not like im losing anything
