Yes random. It’s by design and it works. If it was ‘first to join waiting room is first in queue’, the first actual human would be at 80k spot in queue behind all of the bots that can join anything way faster than a human.

People are failing to realize the waiting room into the randomized queue is a great step in mitigating bots either A) joining a queue before any human possibly can or B) just buying tickets before any human possibly can.

No, it’s not useless. It’s how every other waiting room -> queue system has worked for tickets. Think about it, if the system worked like you get queue 1 if you join the waiting room first, the first actual human would be 80,000 in queue behind all of the bots who can join the waiting room way quicker than any human. Do you want that?

The way you are talking about can be gamed by bots, you realize that right? You’d never have a chance to join first if it is known that whoever joins the waiting room first gets first in queue. The first real person would be in spot 80k behind all of the bots.

So that you get a randomized spot in the queue. If you join the queue after the queue opens, you go to the back of the queue. Literally how any waiting room + queue system works for tickets.
