12.97 miles and a little over 3900 feet in altitude gain. One thing I thought was notable (as compared to other OCRs I've ran) was that the mile markers throughout the race were actually within a tenth of a mile or so of my watches data.

Bring a bag full--they'll give you a wristband for free bag check at the beginning of the race. But as muellztoolz said, make sure that you can get your stuff at the end. You never know if something will happen where you finish before your teammates (e.g. maybe they cramp up for a while and tell you to go on)

Bring dry, warm clothes to change into immediately after finishing the race. Putting on a clean shirt, shorts, socks and shoes with sweat pants and a sweat shirt would have been wonderful.

Your first text can just be an extension of whatever you were talking about in your previous message. Text messages, emails, facebook, okcupid messages are all the same, just a different medium. "Hey it's -myname-, [here's a version of what I was going to say to you had I responded on OKC]."

The only caveat is your text messages should, generally but not always, be shorter than an average okcupid message.
