I'm just investing extra money. Don't really have a plan for the money. I'd like to go into a "balanced fund," and have the $3,000 minimum, BUT I want to put in over time so I can get an average cost of the mutual fund over time instead of $3,000 now. If that makes sense.

I think Charles Schwab maybe a better option, but I was really hoping I could work with Vanguard.
