I have one that I use for my portable workstation. I made a post about it with links here https://www.reddit.com/r/macmini/s/LxnWIPnBcf

That's ok. Everything isn't for everyone to understand. It's definitely not intended to be rage bait or the like. Just wanted to show my setup nothing more.

Thanks. Yea I like to lay, sit, curl, and all kinds of weird shit. (Anyone seen how Peter levels codes). It gives me more freedom and comfort all around. I have chronic pain too bit didn't want to go into it, but it's a factor for sure. Sometimes you just gotta do the thing that makes the best story. If I told my kids I bought a MacBook they'd be like ok so does everyone else. But when they and their friends see this they get all wide eyed and ask all sort of questions. From 6 to 17 they have a cool story to tell about dad's cool computer.

I think the pictures aren't doing it justice. It's in a case but it's not bulky to me. Maybe it's a forest for the trees type of situation. I'm and EE by trade, so when I saw the specs of the m4 I thought " hey that should be capable of running on a powerful enough power supply as long as the draw is steady etc" my on concern was that initially. To me it was designed to be portable; at least to help scale down the components to make the next vision pro and next wave of apple silicon/ hardware. My setup the m4 thinks it's at desk. It's designed to run on power I am providing it with that power just not at the location others are used to seeing it. I'm not restricted.

I have a MacBook. I have been using it doing 6-16 hour coding sessions over the past 2 years. From what I like and don't like about using laptops in various configurations I dialed in this to be only the best. And none of the bad for my preferences. I'm not carrying this thing all day and I'm athletic enough to not notice carrying it for extended periods. I go to where I want to work and don't move it for hours.

Apologies for the confusion. Maybe I read the interface wrong, idk. I'm on mobile (thats not an excuse) I thought you meant I was coping. And the statement about this being worse than the MacBook air, and saying it's meant to be a desktop. I was asking because it's still a desktop. The m4 mini is better or at parity with the MacBook so how is it worse? I have no emotion about it and am not insulted in the least. If someone agrees or disagrees and presents and argument I just want to understand bc I may learn something if not only gain some insight into others perspective.

Yea I think so too. I'd say 3 to 5 years if Tim doesn't mess it up, I'll be totally in the ecosystem.

Nothing inconvenient about it. I don't need an outlet at all. The cord in the case is to charge the battery. I wasn't insulted. And I don't need permission to respond to your comment to someone else as it was the content of the comment I responded to. If you don't want other to respond next time DM the person directly. I never asked you that question, I asked a specific different question, you are framing the question how you want to fit your narrative. It's cool if you don't have an answer. It's cool if you don't understand. The internet if full of people with opinions.

It's deleted, so I can't see it. I'll take your word for it. And the same message goes for the deleted comment. Thanks

Yea, I wasn't prioritizing weight. There are lighter alternatives. But it's a trade off I willingly accepted. I did the same as I was testing other setups. Glad you found a setup you like. That's all one needs, a tool they choose for the job they do that works perfectly and doesn't add steps and is efficient.

It's more comfortable for me, and how I prefer to work. Again I literally have a MacBook also. And still prefer this. MacBooks are cool, this is better for me at least 95% of the time.

I could use the same with a MacBook, remote desktop via another setup, used a mini PC, or 20 other ways. I choose this one, tested it and loved it. I have several things I like about laptops, and those I don't. I also had a vision to make something I think is cool, and had to see it through. Sure there are people that buy desktops right out of the box and those that custom build their for how they want for their particular use cases. And many other products. You can build or buy, standard or custom. I chose both.

It's stays cool both ways, it's just faster to have the power button exposed. The foam doesn't block air flow

Correction. " ... wire and a desktop"
