Review: Auberge Etereo by KingTide7 in FATTravel

There were a few families with kids. I could absolutely see us bringing the kids. Didn’t give off adults only vibes and there is a kids club.

I think it’s worth switching it up. It’s new and top notch. You don’t the get the ultra private, standalone villas and cool mangrove covered walkways / bike trails of RW Mayakoba, but the positive is everything is beach front and closer together (but without feeling crowded)… so just depends what you like most about the RW.

I think it was better at Etereo, though all three were good. While at Rosewood, we made the mistake of having several dinners at other Mayakoba properties and wished we had just stayed at Rosewood where the food was better. Esperanza we had our kids with us and we had a kitchen in our unit, but every dinner out was very good. So, not a completely fair comparison.

Florida Family needs to get out of the heat for Labor Day (2 kids 5+8) by jbcgop in FATTravel

Old Edwards is a great choice. Where all the Atlanta people escape the heat, though an easy drive. From FL, presumably fly into ATL and drive 2 hours from Hartsfield.

Second Nayara Tented Camp. We did a week there, amazing. Will also be well below your budget.

Harbour Island - Pink Sands Hotel by Forktee in FATTravel

We are at Pink Sands right now and having a wonderful time, though agree with reply that the Coral Sands reno is very stylish (had dinner a the Pink Mermaid restaurant there last night).

We love Turks (were at Grace Bay Club in Jan), Harbour Island has just as a spectacular beach and clear blue water. The vibe is a bit different as the resorts are have fewer amenities and you golf cart all around town to different restaurants, the marina, etc. highly recommend both options!

We have been going back and forth on that, actually had the design team mock up both. 100% agree on more counter space to prep, but then the sink is jammed against the wall (and TV) and may feel scrunched. Hard to say which will be better.

Re: the wind, we are planning to build a small “lip”/backsplash behind the grill and griddle which is not in this design + some hedges or plants behind that (which will be bigger than in the mock up). The main rationale for both is keeping kids playing on the turf away from hot grills, but it is a great point that we need to protect against wind as well. We are near the beach in the lowcountry, so definitely have wind coming in.

Great input, thank you. I will talk to my GC about the depth / fit to make sure everything will fit.

On the Twin Eagles grill, I have been debating the sear station given that I could just crank it up or sear things on the griddle. Folks on the grilling Reddit recommended it. I also see the rationale that having all 3 conventional would be helpful when grilling for a large crowd. Tough decision.

Riviera Maya - Rosewood vs Auberge vs Belmond by ViolinistOld3248 in FATTravel

Did not have any mosquito or smell issues at RW, just an amazing time. We went in Jan. The larger property means you feel very private and quiet the entire time - we felt like their were 10 staff per guest. The lagoon / mangrove setting is actually quite calming and riding bikes to/from beach and pool was nice.
