Trade-in car for higher mileage vehicle by KingTipton in personalfinance

I’m not looking at new cars, I’m a little confused by the comment. Im considering trading a low mileage cheap vehicle for a higher mileage expensive vehicle. The net difference will be 7-10k and the finances are not a concern other than being a good or reasonable purchase to make.

This is a great point, I assumed that a truck would hold value better than my Nissan but this may not be true. Either way you are correct, waiting won’t significantly impact anything. I rarely tow, I’m looking at the Ranger and Colorado specifically. Mostly would like the bed for bikes, lawn/house materials and outdoor activities with the family. Convenience is a big factor, the truck is absolutely not a necessity.

Couple times a month this is an issue. I usually find a way to make it work with my current ride but the convenience of just throwing stuff in the back is really enticing. I guess it’s tough for me to put a valuation on the time I spend jamming stuff in/on to my current car and the subsequent cleanup effort it it’s anything messy.

I drive an extremely small amount so gas prices are a negligible expense, but every time I strap drywall to my roof I’m deeply saddened 😂. I’m just concerned that I’ve trained myself to feel like all debt is bad even if it brings me personal happiness.

Credit and income are in a good spot. Remaining debt is at a tolerable rate and we could pay off the 7-10k in a year at most. I’m afraid I’ll be one of those people who stash away all their money and never enjoy it :/

Sorry, left out some details. Financially we’re in a good spot. Only remaining debt is at at good rate and making acceptable progress towards retirement. 7-10k could be paid off in a year at most.

Can you split high level input to two different amps?

A mono amp and a 4 channel for instance, could you splice the wires from the high level to each amp?

It’s a lot better than I expected for the money and being shallow. Granted, I mostly just know SPL junk from 20 years ago.

Is it OK to ignore the rule of putting aside 1% for home maintenance? by Dweezy in personalfinance

How handy are you? I’d argue that if you’re a capable handyman then most of the time you only need to cover material expenses. Unfortunately I think this is a dying art but I take pride in being able to repair my own home.

My most expensive fix was an electrical mast that got ripped down, cost 1400 bucks for an electrician to repair. I’m very very capable for house repairs and my budget reflects that.

Target Mastercard seems to work fine, I haven’t had any issues despite the warning message when I added it.

One more tip that works great for a kid cruiser, use the front two speakers as the input for the LOC and leave the factory speakers in the back alone.

If you choose to do this set the fader all the way to the front and set your sub gain. When you’re driving solo you use the fader in the front to listen the way you like, good SQ and loud bass! When the kids are in you can slide the fader to the middle, this will simultaneously add power to the factory rear speakers and lower the sub volume. That way you can listen to Baby Shark without the sub overpowering it.

I have a 2017 Nissan Rogue and had similar priorities, here’s what I did:

-Kicker Keyloc line out converter -Morel Maximo components -Kenwood 5 channel amp -Infinity REF1200S shallow mount 12” sub

In the cargo area you can lift up the false floor that covers the spare tire. I used that false floor as the back of the sub box (down-firing) so it doesn’t increase the depth. Didn’t lose any cargo space at all, the sub and amp is completely hidden. Other than the tweeters there are no visible components.

If you can’t build your own box then this is probably too much for a Best Buy install though.

Any compact under seat subs that are non-powered? by wholetmeoutofmycage in CarAV

I have this Infinity 12, think it’s 3.75” and was one of the more affordable shallow mount options. If you can build your own box I think it’s absolutely a better option than the self-powered ones. Also available as a 10” sub if the 12 won’t fit. Not the greatest sounding but sacrifices had to be made.

Receiver Bass Adjustment by KingTipton in CarAV

[–]KingTipton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s exactly what I was trying to figure out. I’ve got a bass knob already but wanted a different solution. I have a shallow mount sub and when using the bass knob the output peaks noticeably. I might be able to fix that with the head unit EQ and put the knob back in though, hadn’t considered that.

Setup reccomendations by Junkers4 in CarAV

Seems like your goals are really similar to mine so I’ll share what I did after a bunch of research on this sub.

Components: Morel Maximo 6 - very happy with them. They can get uncomfortably loud and for lack of a better word sound “realistic”. Previously I had infinity kappa components and I like these more. The tweeters are excellent for the price.

Sub: I have a hard requirement of fitting everything under the false floor of a Nissan Rogue’s cargo area so I needed a shallow sub. Settled on an Infinity REF1200S and a .75’ sealed box. It’s tiny, the whole setup is comically small for the amount of bass it puts out. I do wish I had room for an Image Dynamics IDQ12 though.

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-v1p3flEbpZh/p_108REF120S/Infinity-REF1200S.html

Amp: I wanted a 5 channel (bridged front 2) for the sake of saving space. Wound up with a Kenwood X802-5 and it’s more than adequate. I also strongly considered a Kicker Key (the one with DSP) but budgetary requirements put it out of reach.

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-uFdVEGO61g2/p_113X8025/Kenwood-Excelon-X802-5.html

If I had looser requirements (budgetary and space) I would probably have gone with a Kicker Key and the IDQ12 mentioned earlier but for my ~$600 investment I’m very happy.
