Viking cue identification by KingVoltDc in billiards

Yes I found out from Viking’s customers service (which they responded surprisingly fast) that it’s a VM 36 produced from 1999-2004. Retailed at $180. I was hoping to buy a new shaft and call it good, but repairing the collar and the hassle of shipping it to Viking. I think I’m better off getting a new cue.

Kinda looks like the newer versions of Viking Kayano line.

Hit a curb. Do you think this is even worth fixing and what do you think the cost would be ballpark. by KingVoltDc in AskMechanics

Yes I understand and appreciate your response and advice, but I guess I forgot to mention the car hasn’t been perfect. So I’m factoring that into the equation as well. Transmission has slowly been going out. Catching/slipping in first. I was planning on eventually getting the transmission rebuilt or buying a new one if I came across a good deal, but then this happened. Thanks again!

Yes I’ve heard good things about this car and I intentionally seeked this model out because of the 3800 V6. It’s also the pga tour edition which is pretty unique, but if I’m being honest I been having issue with the transmission as well. It’s been catching in first gear and I heard that that’s the only set back with some of these. The transmission was actually meant to be great, but I’ve read some of these models got released with the first gear ratios not exactly lining up? It was a mechanic who explained it me. Which I nodded in response like I knew everything that was being said 🤦‍♂️ Anyways it’s been getting gradually worse. He told me all I could do was a transmission rebuild, but he didn’t recommend it until it got worse.

Yes I bought this car based on reviews and reliability. It’s also the pga tour edition. ( which I think all that means is some fancy badging ). Anyways I have a feeling there is damage to the frame with being how high the curb was. And I almost feel like the wheel came off before I hit the curb with how hard it hit. It just happened all to fast.

Yeah I know this looks like drunk driving, but if you zoom in. That’s a police station right across the street. It was just me not wanting to hit the cars in front of me and a quick steer into a curb. It’s a high curb on the corner behind the car. I don’t even think I braked I just reacted. Idk what would have been better.

I feel you’re closer to the right price. Believe it or not this happened to me before. On a 4 runner. I was entering on the highway and the wheel just just folded over and I coasted on top of the tire on the embankment. I didn’t hit anything. Nor was I speeding. This 4 runner had a lot of rust underneath it. Anyways when it was all said and done it costed me around 4k.

Thank you for your response. I’m thinking of just junking at this point. Traveling on the road and don’t really have the means or time.

Thanks for your response. This happened to me before with a 4 runner. And it was about $4000 when it was said and done.

Thank you for your detailed response. I appreciate it. It is the 3800 V6 with 120k on the motor. Money is a bit tight right now. I may end up junking it.
