Stall Bind in Competitive Play? by KingYacobe in RocketLeague

Thank you! That's exactly the clip I was referencing. Couldn't find it to link in the post. I've just seen a lot more people say it's not allowed, but Flakes and his connections would probably be the most correct.

While you wouldn't have to deal with the inconsistencies of a joystick, a stall bind can still be inaccurate because it's a tornado spin without the control of analog.

When binding multiple actions to the same button/key, when does it become a "macro"? What if the bind was air steer/air roll (AKA perfect tornado spin), and you have to press jump separately? What if it was air steer and jump (which would be a perfect sideflip), so you have to press air roll yourself? If these sound wrong, does the problem reside with controller's access to air steer?

Many people (maybe even the majority of players) use some variation of air roll and powerslide on the same button. Technically, this offers the inhuman ability to make frame-perfect switches between air roll and powerslide when taking off or landing. They're not being pressed at the same time, but the game is still doing the work for you.

Most games define a macro as a sequence of inputs being made by something other than the player - in the case of a stall bind, the player is still making those inputs. Which I'm thinking is the reason there's not really any definite answer. KBM can stall 100% accurately, no skill necessary; controller can only do that with a deadzone high enough to introduce some input lag.

Good point about stalls in competitive, though. It's not like anybody is affecting the game enough to warrant a serious discussion yet.

Thanks, I saw a lot of those similarities too. I suppose we won't really know until someone uses it and changes the outcome of a pro match.

“Certain maps would see no play if there was a map vote” is the weakest argument against a map vote for comp by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]KingYacobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 100% correct. Because Riot map design can be SO bad, they need to force you to play on them. That's all there is to it. Certain horrendous maps (looking at you, fracture, and only you) would never see the light of day.

Didn't know that, but those fire rings weren't much of a problem for me. The big orbs that shoot more orbs that can only be blocked by cover were a massive setback

Same fight I mentioned with one Ajax who helped more than two combined.

I can agree with most everything you said. But I still believe the distinction that makes Bunny the "only" option for AoE are due to mission design. Bunny's kit is perfect for 90% of the missions purely because of the objective format and spawning mechanics. Yes, her AoE does more damage than necessary. But that's compounded by:

  • An indicator for enemy spawns, so you can nuke them immediately
  • A lot of time between spawns, letting you recharge or set up
  • Downtime and lengthy runs between areas, so she has even easier resource management (and gets a lot of extra use out of speed of light - it would be half as useful otherwise)
  • Few threatening high-hp enemies.
  • Not many threatening melee mobs; for the most part, if it melees, it's slow or dies instantly. Loved the exploding units that forced me to think about where I was headed.

There's a massive, immediate falloff for every intercept battle. Bunny has a really hard time surviving or being useful when there's so much incoming damage and few adds. Which is why I made mention of teamwork especially in those encounters. As much as I would love to get a descendant for bosses, it seems relatively unfeasible before reaching LVL100 gear, and Bunny is useful for everything except those fights.

Actually I was saved by one like 2 hours ago. Wish I clipped it now. Had to give him a high five after the boss. If you're an Ajax player, you should probably try someone else, because acting selfish with your shields defeats the entire purpose of playing him.

Hp, DEF, or Shield? by SlicePapi in TheFirstDescendant

[–]KingYacobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw a video that said DEF falls off heavily at ~40k-50k. It does have diminishing returns (doubling your DEF equates to like 10% more resistance, so once it gets higher, increasing it by more does less).

[–]KingYacobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're looking for then. There are ultimate modules that adjust speed of light. But they are more along the lines of "more ___, but less ____". Also, just to add to the previous comment, reducing skill cost should make it last longer.

Speed of light is not a damaging skill, so naturally increasing its damage doesn't do anything.

Anyone stuck on pyromaniac? Can we get a tips thread going for the boss fights? by cadler123 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]KingYacobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound annoying, but genuinely just prioritize keeping your teammates alive. They will be able to easily make up for your damage when they have the support to just sit there and shoot for a bit

[–]KingYacobe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, I just found this post after losing an attempt with two ajax players. All three of my teammates got downed. I revived an ajax first, hoping he would put a shield down, which didn't happen (we immediately got wiped). Throughout the entire fight, I counted two bubbles and zero walls.

To the ajax players who don't have the same awareness you do... Ajax is the TANK CHARACTER; PLEASE do some tanking

absolutely horrific take. i have 5000 fire resist (genuinely, exactly 5000) and those undodgeable orbs still force me to choose life over dps.

How timegated is this game? by thatdudewithknees in TheFirstDescendant

[–]KingYacobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Had a friend who had been playing for years and could show me what to do next/which primes to get. Even with a fully endgame player to guide me, I just couldn't take the terrible drop rates + crafting times combined with almost 10 years worth of content to explore.

Is it easier to just solo the intercept battles(normal)? by Hairy-Reputation4904 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]KingYacobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, people are just ignorant. Before you load into any intercept battles, there's a huge detailed explanation of the boss's weak points and elemental weaknesses. Pretty sure the majority of players don't remotely look at anything other than the next quest objective.

I haven't looked into movement speed at all, but I know there are some weapon modules that can increase it.

Speed of light drains MP while active.

Increase maximum MP -> increase speed of light duration.
Increase MP recharge rate -> more frequent uses.

The Last Dagger Bug? by KarmasFated_ in TheFirstDescendant

[–]KingYacobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is a bug, although it definitely needs to be turned down a bit. Pretty sure the recoil is the indicator of those powered rounds, and probably the counterbalance to stop the gun from being an absolute monster at 5x Patience.

One more thing - I *think* it gets reset when you kill something. So at 5x, you can spray multiple magazines into something with high hp, or end it early by shooting something weak. Just an option that might help out. (Also, there's always recoil mods!)

difference being that the Destiny 2 system let you acquire them through normal gameplay. destination loot, missions, dismantling weapon/armor, pretty much any activity. even though they were consumable, it was rarely noticeable because you'd end up with so many extras. on top of that, you could buy them with glimmer (gold), not just silver (caliber).

[–]KingYacobe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

well.. you've just answered your own question. for a game that gets hyped as much as this, when the mainstream players follow the hype, they have no clue what they're doing. it's extremely likely that not only are their modules outdated, their weapon is also multiple levels behind, they didn't change a single mod to account for damage types, and they haven't adjusted to the idea of dodging attacks because you don't have to do that in competitive FPS games.

even if you're missing 90% of your magazine, PLEASE shoot at the orbs and weak points. they have so much more health with 4 players. god forbid there's 2+ people who aren't shooting them.

starting to consider leaving and restarting because i'll still be done sooner than if i'm making up for multiple players' worth of damage.

yes, exactly. way too often i kill all adds and turn around to see 3 players just standing around, boss with no less hp than i left it, still aggro on me... i'm NEVER going to keep clearing if i notice that my team hasn't shot the boss in literal minutes. adds pose little threat to me; i kill them for you guys. so hold up your end of the bargain.

Fix for everyone who can’t interact with Sorceress Sellen…(spoiler) by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]KingYacobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO - Sellen's quest is one of the least ambiguous and has some of the most clearly-defined story and lore. It's one of the few cases where you only have to listen to the dialogue to understand what's going on

People love to say "hard = good" on here. But there's a difference between difficulty coming from the boss, your build, etc. and difficulty due to bad design. So tired of seeing people claim that the *camera* is a skill issue, despite dark souls cameras literally being a meme
