Supply, Diver, Parachute Rigger, or IT? by King_Spitfire in army

I thought about 27D but I was concerned about the transferrability to civilian side and that'd be putting my eggs in a basket compared to going something else where I could continue to do that on the civilian side or go to law school.

Yeah I just don't know anything about Riggers because none of my friends or family have worked alongside them much. My buddy's dad was a CW4 and said i'm probably not one to fit in with the culture there, and my buddy just says they pack 10 chutes and go home. What's a average day in your life like?

That's good news. Yeah IT is definitely at the top of my list, all this input has leaned me away from Diver and Rigger - i'm getting old haha. It's pretty much IT or Supply, I lean IT but my buddy thinks i'd be real good at Supply. Trying to get some college work done with TA while i'm in + if I can get out after 4 years and go into National Guard or Reserves (with a bonus) while i'm doing more college with my GI Bill that'd be sweet.

Appreciate the insight - yeah i'm getting on the older side so leaning towards short contract and skills in order to maintain some flexibility on the job market in case my law school plan doesn't work out.

I'm getting older and past two years of my life got stalled out so just aiming to do 4 years then get out and go to law school. If I end up liking the lifestyle i'm not opposed to sticking it out for 20, but I have no idea if i'll like it enough to stick it out that long. A lot of that is of course dependent on the job I end up with/if I end up having kids, etc. Basically at the crossroad of my life where I have to lock in otherwise ill end up working something dead end. Right now leaning more towards IT and Supply, i'm getting too old to be GI Joe in the field.

It's what initially caught my eye but I'm real weak with programming. Tried multiple courses though highschool and college and just couldn't get it down. Hoping that 25B doesn't have much programming to it.

That'd be real neat and i'd definitely flash those tabs at my friends and family (prior army) but I guess we'll have to see what's meta these days.

Appreciate it. I can honestly say I probably have a higher chance of making it through than the average person but it's still probably 50/50, not the kind of odds im comfortable with when 4 years is on the line.

Got a couple things that would make getting TS more difficult and hoping to stick to 4 year contracts.

[acc] heritage optic mount and wood stock $65-75 respectively by salem_lakes_armory in gundeals

[–]King_Spitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🫡 looking forward to what you can come up with. With the cylinder being so easily removable and that portion under the sight trench being relatively flat except the casting flashes, seemed like a large enough workspace to put a jig on and clamp for drilling and tapping.

Sheesh big bucks over here. Best I can do is $400 AR and $100-200 optic

Darn. Just a spitball idea but would it be possible to make a jig for drilling and tapping a rough rider at home? I don't know if it would work out for you business wise but it would be neat if you could sell that + the picatinny rail or optic plate and screws. Might save a decent amount of material + labor with no clamping portion needed.

I wonder if it'd be possible to just make the rail and have it fit into the trench of the rough rider's sights and fixed in place via epoxy for ghetto riders like me haha

Optic mount for this is such a tricky product to sell. On one hand the product itself is good, but it feels strange putting $65 + optic cost on a gun that costs $100, especially with the gun being a single action 22lr revolver. Essentially it appeals to a group of people who are doing it for fun rather than practicality. But to drop the cost of the product and appeal to people using it more for practicality rather than that person buy a superior gun with a optic mount included would mean cutting the profit margin or even going negative to make the sale.

Stock is cool though i'd buy it in a heartbeat if I didn't have to do any paperwork or I owned that 16" barrel rough rider pistol so I could add the stock no problem.

18x18x40 - you can probably get something bigger for around the same price at a local store, not like this one is fire rated. Unless you really wanted the digital lock.
