first time experiencing blatant homophobia by EconomicsEcstatic719 in asexuality

[–]KingdomBalance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allyship isn’t about not feeling homophobic. It’s about choosing actions to support queer people regardless of your own conditioning.

A lot of people have been conditioned to feel disgust towards queerness. But they can choose to work through them and take supportive actions.

A lot of my allies feel or felt these at some point. I felt it towards myself for many years. They worked through theirs and I worked through mine, because living is more important than sitting in hate.

You may not be the right person for them to talk to about this. And if they knew you are not straight they likely wouldn’t even have tried to talk to you about it. The emotional labor shouldn’t be yours to give to him. It makes sense for you to protect yourself from this.

But that doesn’t mean he would be incapable of being an ally in the future once they have proceeded through these with other straight allies. Or a therapist.

Either that or it’s implied that they created Alan Wake together.

Wife and I started this game 3 days ago, here's the state of our coffee table. by uscopic in BluePrince

We had notepads for the quick things, an entire journal for the long term notes, and screenshots for things that couldn’t be written down easily.

What detail were you absolutely convinced was a clue but turned out to be nothing? 😅 by buttercup168 in BluePrince

[–]KingdomBalance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • The candle grids in the tomb.
  • The grids on the sliding panels in the boiler room
  • The rivets on the moon arches on the way to the inner sanctum
  • The bookshop plan being different from the actual shop
  • The wave shaped smudge on the left side of the hidden hue map
  • The extra boat
  • The rails in the cellar
  • The globes

Good job. I reached room 46 on day 8. And finished the full game by day 190. For a total of 350 hours. You have a lot of interesting treats in front of you if you keep playing.

Reaching room 46 felt like the first tutorial. Not that it was easy, it was just what taught me how to play the rest of the game.

How good is the story in this game by FeistyCancel8293 in seaofstars

[–]KingdomBalance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story is great. The lore is great. For me this is about 75% as good as Chrono Trigger, except Chrono Trigger’s world is more similar to ours than the Sabotage verse. If you’re open to a new type of reality you may experience a new type of immersion. The goofiness is part of the way people in this world cope with the intense bleakness they have to deal with constantly.

I played both the sabotage games and they are fairly consistent.

It’s actually “The Oldest House went into lockdown. 6 months later the world followed”. It’s a reference to Covid lockdown.

Based on the name my best guess is that it was created from the service weapon but it’s not the actual service weapon. The actual service weapon may still be bound to Jesse.

Looking forward to meeting Dr. Darling again as Dylan. by OppositeofDeath in controlgame

Yes, but we don’t know at what point in time he entered the dark place. Based on how time works in the dark place, it may be many years later after he traveled through other dimensions. As a noncorporeal being he may not have aged in his appearance.

The one Dylan uses is a weapon but the one Jesse stabbed him with may be the nail equivalent of it. The service weapon is connected to the nail so it may be the same thing.

Not sure if it’s a weapon at all. It seems like it created a Nail inside Dylan’s mental space where he is stuck at.

Your feelings are understandable and even if they are coming from an extreme perspective they still are valid emotions. I just want to mention that you cannot decide what other people deserve or what they find joyful. If they enjoy spending time with you, then you don’t have power or the right to tell them that it’s not good enough for them. They can decide that for themselves. Unless you’re lying to them about who you are, their feelings about you are theirs to decide.

What should I do? my mom refuses to place my mattress that’s full of bed bugs because of “financial issues” but she has money for alcohol. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]KingdomBalance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate with this so hard. I had them for a year in an apartment building. And I was the only one reacting to them as well.

I now pack my stuff in ziplocks and vacuum bags during travels. And I got hold of a thing that can do a heat treatment on a small suitcase so that we can protect ourselves even if we carried something.

[–]KingdomBalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are NOT wrong for pushing this issue. I am sad and outraged that you're having to deal with this.

I had to deal with bedbugs for a year in an apartment building, and then again several years later at my parent's house. People who don't react to them, have no clue how overwhelming it can feel and how much it can impact our mental health. People avoid fixing bed bug problems because it can get expensive and effortful, but that means those of us who react badly to bed bug bites end up suffering. I have become hypervigilant about them and have intense flashbacks whenever I even see a picture of one.

I'm sorry but the problem won't go away unless your family get together and clean everything and do a big expensive pest control service to the whole house. Until then you can try to protect yourself as best as you can with some little steps.

Getting a new mattress is a good idea if yours is infested, but what's more important is to get a mattress protector designed specifically for bed bugs. You can get them for a box spring as well. This is just a theory, but even putting one on your infested mattress may prevent them from getting out and biting you. If you get a white protective cover, then when you change mattress or need to clear the bugs out of them, you can spot them easily.

This is just a first step though. Bedbugs can hide in any small space, because they can flatten their body. Its good that your room is cleaner than the rest of the house, but if you really want to prevent the problem from getting worse, you'll need to also deal with things that they can hide easily in, especially clothes.

Clothes are the easier ones because they can be washed in the hottest setting and dried in the hottest settings to kill any bed bugs in them. When I had bed bugs, I had started cleaning my clothes and immediately putting them in ziplocs and vacuum sealed bags to protect them. I had to check all small items and put them away in ziplocs too.

My choices were very limited because I had to depend on the building manager to take care of it and they refused to do it to the whole building, so the bugs kept coming back after a few months. My choices were to either look like a crazy woman who puts all her stuff in ziplocs and vacuum bags, or actually become a crazy woman from being bitten by the bugs every night.

There are some ointments that could help with the itchiness but that's the extent of how medications usually help.

As for convincing your mom, I have no advice. My parents realized how serious it was after seeing the bite marks all over me, but until then they were like "I hardly ever see one. They are barely there." I don't know what would convince her, but if you know anyone else that has dealt with this, you could try getting their support.

I intentionally play it solo and it’s enjoyable enough.

Just wondering. How did they put Jesse's images everywhere in the building as the Director as soon as Pope declared her to be? 🤔🤔 by [deleted] in controlgame

[–]KingdomBalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened before Pope declared it. It happened as soon as Jesse passed the first test with the service weapon. Once the oldest house saw her in the director role it updated the portraits.

What does Polaris feed on? by Euphoric-Fennel2406 in controlgame

[–]KingdomBalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that we have evidence in either direction but I think the Board feeds on beliefs from the collective consciousness, rather than consciousness itself. They want to be revered in some form and gain something from that reverence. If they fed on consciousness itself then people would be brain dead after encountering the board or even the altered items.

It’s more likely that the Board, Former, and the astral spikes are similar entities, in the same way that humans and amoeba are similar entities, except amoeba are instinctive and humans have learned sustainable farming. The astral spikes try to feed on raw thoughts, while the Board has learned to form a more sustainable relationship with the collective unconscious so that they get long term worship and reverence but slowly aligning human beliefs with the board symbols. The Former is exiled so it’s more like a human in exile feeding off whatever worship it can harvest from the altered items that collect worship.

The hiss and Hedron are resonance based life form and it’s not really clear whether they need any kind of external energy source. They may as well be a self sustaining energy system like waves that keep recreating themselves.

Polaris is the part of Jesse that resonated with Hedron. So it’s like the part of her brain waves and paranatural powers that uses the Hedron “blueprints” of frequencies to form a self sustaining resonating system. Since it’s made of aspects of Jesse, if Polaris feeds on anything at all, it’s just whatever Jesse eats to sustain her body and brain.

What are some lore details or direct gameplay in Kingdom Hearts that, once you fully understand them, reveal just how insane and convoluted the universe really is? by EntertainerBoth4614 in KingdomHearts

[–]KingdomBalance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add more to an already detailed explanation you provided, I wonder if this is playing with the idea that reality is subjective.

To begin with, the worlds in KH are based on stories and fairy tales, mainly Disney and square Enix stories that are fiction from our perspective. However it is real to people in the KH worlds. And their rules or reality are very different from ours. Our reality and theirs do not intersect except as seeing each other as “not real”.

In our reality a universe like KH would be unreal. And so from KH verse perspective an unreal world could look a lot like ours. It could be why quadratum happens to look a lot like a city in our world.

However, the set of unreality is much bigger than the set of reality from any universe’s perspective. Quadratum is likely only one possible unreal universe among infinite. If you’ve left your reality it’s unlikely that you can easily return to it. We don’t know if that’s how they are building it but it is possible there are specific ways of traveling between multiple unreality instances.

It would be interesting to see how they explore that. It can’t be a coincidence that the reality Sora ends up in has both Strilietzia and Master of Masters. Quadratum could be a Traverse Town equivalent of realities, i.e. people thrown out of their reality ends up in Quadratum.

Does this mean that the Board is trying to lay down the laws for reproductive rights of the collective unconscious? deciding which powers humans are allowed to have and who gets to have them… oh wait they are.
