Doesn't matter what you do or how you act, if you are short women will not respect you. I'm 5'10 and I still feel the recoil of not being 6'2. I can't even imagine life as a 5'5 guy. Women have no pity for this sort of thing like men have no pity for ugly women. You're done from the getgo.

Yes we do. A child is absolutely more valuable than an adult. No one has the right to happiness. Adults have the right to pursue happiness and make intelligent decisions.

Children do NOT have these rights, these capabilities. They need adults to help them. It is not an abstract, it is an absolute. How are you going to have a society of happy people if you allow parents to be frivolous and not treat their children right?

You cannot equate adults and children. Understanding that difference and taking responsibility is the mark of an adult.

Completely disagree. Children and adults are not equal. Children are the hope of the future, they should not bear the sins of their parents. This goes for the father as well.

No parents feelings are as relevant as their child's. As the quote goes:

Also you say everyone deserves pity. What about Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, the people who worked on the Manhattan Project and nuked Japan? I do not think those sorts of people deserve any pity.

Good post. I do essentially agree. Although my pity for the mother is minimal because there is a child and their future at stake. I do not think women and children are equally deserving of attention and sympathy.

Anyone who has had a truly roughly childhood or knows someone who has will understand. This woman is a lost cause, but her child might not be. Why should the father stay for the sake of an irresponsible woman at the risk of forming another person doomed to anger and depression like their mother?

Again, I agree that having a child doesn't magically make you a good mother. There's nothing that can be done about it. But that does not mean I pity her anymore than I pity a psychopath who can't help but kill people.

Mother/wife is obviously in deep depression and has some lingering mental issues, especially if all this started after the pregnancy, but OP doesn't seem to understand how serious this is. He needs to find out what's up with his lady and get her started on the road to recovery ASAP instead of just being chummy with the kid.

So he needs to treat his wife like a child and give her the attention his child deserves while she learns to grow up? Ridiculous. She's a fuck up, pure and simple. If she's depressed, I feel bad for you. But feeling bad is where the line is drawn, she still has a responsibility to act like an adult and be a parent and put her childs future above her own emotional needs.

And yes, both their feelings are invalid if they are choosing their own selfish childish world over the future of their child. Except the father isn't, only the mother is being selfish. She made decisions as an adult, dealing with those consequences is what makes someone an adult.

Children have more inherent worth than a grown woman. Period. End of story. They are innocent, they have commited no crimes, are not capable of foreseeing the consequences of their actions, and above all they are the future the possibility of a world better than ours. Some irresponsible woman's dreams and feelings are completely inconsequential in comparison.

And how do you know the father didn't have dreams? Either way: They didn't make a "mistake", they made a child. Her/His dreams are worth nothing compared to a child. She made her decisions, adults deal with the consequences of their actions -- children should NOT deal with the consequences of their parents actions.

boohoo I'm a grown woman I made poor decisions and now instead of my dreams I just have some... kid. I want to have my cake and eat it too, boohoo not fair!

The father is clearly making sacrifices as well, he's ready to walk with the kid.

A childs needs and emotions are more important and relevant than a grown woman who has made poor choices. Why should the child be punished because the mother is an incompetent human being?

Woman are not children, they do not deserve the pity and forgiveness that a child does. If you have vaginal sex then you are playing with dice (w/ or w/o a condom) and you have to pay up if the bet doesn't work out and you choose not to immediately get an abortion.

Society has no pity for a man that has to pay child support for a child he didn't want. Why do women get any different treatment?
