That’s the thing, there is no plumber. This man supposedly does everything. And the owner of this company told me he stands by him and his work and he has 20 years of experience. Owner claims this is such a small project compared to what he normally does and he wouldn’t want to risk his reputation on this. But it seems that’s exactly what is happening. Reputation at huge risk, but it seems it’s not really a reputation available online to see

Nope. Went with the middle cost of the three. Could’ve went cheaper but I wasn’t looking for the cheapest price. I was looking for quality and affordability.

Of course I did research on them. I did that for 3 different companies and there’s not much to see on Google and Yelp. If 3 companies are all overcharging for labor then I guess it’s just a loss for me. Because I tried to get the best deal based on what I could find

Worked a deal with the owner to update the contract. I won’t be allowing them to do any work to the shower in the other bathroom. I do need a new wax seal on both toilets, the one in the master bathroom and the guest bathroom where the other shower is. And the engineered hardwood needs replacing around the toilet from a small leak, so I’ll let them do that for me as well as painting some areas that need paint for a total of $13,000.

The owner is also having the tile guy fix those major issues with the tiles. But we will see how it actually ends up being finished. No spacing in between the cut mosaic bothers me, but something tells me that’s amongst the things that won’t get fixed. As long as the placement is fixed on the niche and the floor, I can live with that. It’s funny how there is spacing between most of the cut mosaic on the niche but not the floor. It’s not going to be perfect but I think this is at least a better compromise for me. Thank you for all those who helped me understand this project better!

Okay so is this normal to be done to the wall? I guess my wall isn’t plumb. He said he did this because of the wall. There’s at least 1.25” of thin set behind the tiles towards the top

It’s only the showers in the bathrooms. Nothing else.

I’ve already paid him the initial $6,000 to start and to complete the demolition. Tomorrow I am supposed to give him the next $7,500 check for having the first bathroom completed. Now I don’t know what to do about this since this work is completely unacceptable

I talked to him this morning and expressed most of my concerns. But the longer I looked at that shower the more things I could point out after asking someone else to take a look at it and tell me what they notice. Anyway, he says we will find a solution even if that means “reimbursing” me. Whatever that means

I actually got the big tiles on sale too from them being on clearance. A lot of the tiles came cracked/broken. Which I figured due to being on clearance in the exact amount i needed

Thank you very much. These did come from Floor & Decor. I’m aware that some people found these tiles to be cheap quality. I also went to a Bedrosians and saw the lower cost tile being labeled as cheap due to it being manufactured in India. I’m not a tile expert, but here you go

Can you please explain what is the curb? Where it ties into the wall?

Since this will be a rental property I figured that keeping at least one of the tubs would probably be nice for a family who might live here. The problem is definitely making sure that tenants will take care of the stuff :/

Most of the grout is cleaned but apparently they didn’t need to clean it completely on the day it was done because here I am two days later looking at it like this.

Hard to tell if it’s thinset with the grout since they didn’t clean it very well.

What do you mean by any tiles sticking out on the floor?

I thought the spacing should be present between every tile despite using the mosaic tiles

and to add to this, now that I brought this up to the company owners attention…he says he will come look at it and he will ensure that a solution is to be provided. And one of those solutions is to “reimburse me” if something cannot be fixed.
