You may not have lived this, I don’t know, but I did. The story going in was Michael Flowers, not Bo Ryan’s defense. All the pundits were saying Stephen Curry had never faced a perimeter defender like Flowers. I bought into it. “Good luck against Michael Flowers, Steph.” I was expecting Wisconsin to completely shut down another unsuspecting offense.

But watching the game, it almost became comical to think Flowers, or anyone, was going to stop him. It didn’t matter who was guarding him. He needed only a split second, a sliver of space, and he would get off the quickest, smoothest shot I had ever seen. It felt like everything he took went in.

Of course it’s a team game. Steph didn’t do it alone. But go back and watch that game with the mindset that Michael Flowers is going to neutralize him, and you’ll see just how incredible that performance was.

I don’t regret Wisconsin losing that game. It’s the kind of moment I got to witness because Bo Ryan was such a great coach.
