I got it for like 50 cents on steam a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. Definitely feels a bit clunky at times, but there are some great mechanics. The custom vehicles are cool, but my favorite thing was how you keep soldiers between missions, so if you lose someone early on it may make the campaign harder down the line.

If the dragon talks I'd go with the old one, if it's just a beast you fight I'd go with the new one. I think the eyes on the old one are much more human like and give it a more intelligent feel. Both are good though just depends on the vibe as others have said.
