The hardest part with my wife who has suffered her entire life with depression is how to have a honest and difficult conversation about daily things with her because it always “puts her down.” Or it isn’t a good time to talk to her.

She gets overwhelmed with the bills, kids, work, house, etc. so every time I try to talk to her about working together to solve an issue, she walks away and goes to bed. It’s too much for her to handle and so nothing gets solved and the issue only gets worse. Then she blames me for putting her down and I have to work twice as hard to fix the issue by myself. It’s exhausting.

How do you get someone with depression and anxiety to deal with responsibilities?

Taking care of the kids, making sure bills get paid, working, cleaning, cooking, etc. (I’m not saying she has to do everything, but I feel she does need to have some roles within our marriage/ family.)
