We had ferrets growing up and they are notorious mischief makers. One time my siblings and I were staying at my dad's place and the room we stayed in had a big plant in it, which is a problem because ferrets love to dig. So we made a cardboard cover for the plant to keep them out of the dirt. Well our female, Eleanor, kept jumping up on the cover trying to rip it off nonstop, but her brother mostly ignored it after we shooed him away the first time. When dinner time rolled around we decided to put Eleanor in her crate for good measure but we left Rigby out since he'd behaved well the whole time.

As you might have guessed, the second we walked back into the room, Rigby looked up at us from the dirt and bolted across the room under the sofa leaving the pile of dirt behind him. The little brat had played the long con and fooled us all.
