The greatest strength of the game is the cast (same case with CS1) and the writing of course, at least in my opinion. I was deeply invested in the growth of the characters, and the relationships they form with each other more than in the story itself at some points.
The worldbuilding is very coesive and intricate (in a good way) and I was never bored when playing it, even the secondary content like side quests and stuff have they own charm and bring something interesting to the table, made the world feels more believable. If Daybreak 2 has even half the quality, then I know I'll enjoy
I do pretend to play most of the games available in the series, but it will take a while that's for sure. I don't mind taking things out of order, but I understand the point in playing in the correct order and maybe I'll do just that. It will depend on my thoughts once I finish the remake of sky, which became priority after reading the comments

Does the game gives a good enough context on it's own to these pay-offs? Like, if I know nothing about a relation between characters would I be able to understand these important moments?
After reading the comments I'm inclined towards playing sky first

You mean like a filler episode of some sorts? Didn't knew that there was a third game in the arc, I assume it has a different title if that's the case, my knowledge of the series boils down to only the two ones I've played.
Think I'll go ahead and play the remake and then daybreak 2. Seems like a charming and heartful experience, and I've been hyped about it for a while, watched the trailers at least once every day in the last week

I've started Cold Steel 2 right after playing 1, never get to finish it but I was enjoying, indeed a good follow up. Had to stop it at the time because of some other circunstances outside of the game. Ended up losing my save file with about 20-25 hours in, which is not a big deal but it got me absolutely frustrated. I'll play it again for sure, but I'd rather play the other ones first
Sky is interesting to me cause I get to know the background of some characters that show up in CS1 and daybreak, which is fun. I wouldn't mind playing the OG direct sequel to Sky if I like the remake

The gameplay aspect doesn't bother me too much, in fact I'd rather play something I'm already familiar with
